How much estimated traffic should I be looking for in keywords for adsense sites?

I am getting back into IM again since I have the time now and need the extra money. Looking at everything again it seems a huge amount of people are still doing the PPC thing. So my question is what should I be looking at in terms of keyword traffic for longtail keywords. I guess the goal is to build sites that make a dollar or more a day? Any advice or direction would be great! Thanks!

well I guess what I am getting at is that are you guys targeting keywords with only 1500 estimated exact searches a month? Or are you going with something higher? I just want to try and get the most information possible before I dive in.
