I know this is a newbie question but when writing a money page should you bold, italicize, and underline the key word or has the new google update made it so that this looks "inorganic"? Also for supporting posts should you be doing the same for the targeted keyword?

Bolden them & cross-link them with other pages in your site (or other relevant sites you may have access to) if you can.

Font styling has no measurable SEO effect. If you're bolding or italicizing, make sure you do so for your users' benefit, not Google's. Because Google just doesn't care enough.
