Default 2400 searches? Google's Insights is telling a different story

Here's an example of why you don't want to cut the search numbers to close when researching a keyword to target. Google's keyword says 2400 searches, but Google insights tells a different story.

Do an exact match search for - tc-p65s2

https://adwords.google.com/o/Targeti...AS#search.none

Then take a look at what Google Insights says:

Google Insights for Search

As you can see it's closer to zero, but because Google's keyword tool goes back 12 months to get the monthly average it skews the actual amount of searches to 2400.

It's still a good gauge to check for interest (searches and CPC) for evergreen niches, but if your main source of traffic is the searchengines you may want to double check with Google insights as well, especially for fad or trendy items.
