This is my strategy: I find keywords that dont have any competition and I buy the domain-keyword. I create a wordpress blog with the best seo plugin post 1-2 post every week in the first month. I submit the url to google, I check my rank with ranktracker and I'm in the first page- around 6-11 place, and I have done this with 5-10 sites, all lose their rank after 2 weeks why is that? The rank good in the beginning, then they loose it? |

Google sometimes gives a "welcome gift" to new sites making them rank well for a short period of time. After that, it just give them the rank it thinks they deserve.

Charlie, you ought to be back in Two and a Half Men, cos Ashton Kutcher don't cut it. ![]() The situation with your sites is called Query Deserves Freshness (QDF). So new sites get a honeymoon period before being relegated to what the algo thinks they should rank. It's normal. |

The unofficial name for that is the "Google's Sand Box". At the first months of almost any website they get devalued in rankings even if they have the top content and many strong backlinks. Be patient, keep adding content and backlinks and eventually, when you'll get out of the sandbox you will get your rankings back.

Yes, becuase I basicly have no competition, and I have the domain keyword. So in that sense I should rank first place without much backlinks. How long does it take to come back? |

| It seems that it should be as you said. But the thing is different. You should spend some time sand do some good seo work. After google see some reputation out there, then they will surely give what are you claiming now. Just wait and be patient with good work.

This is the "freshness" bonus, take advantage of it by building strong content in the beginning so you can get links.

Its a little welcome gift from google, like a puppy leaving a present on your doorstep. Only thing is after a few weeks you find it stinks and is actually a piece of puppy poo, so you have to roll up your sleeves and do hard work. What a terrible analogy, I need sleep! Basically, new sites get a little lift, so they appear higher in the rankings, to get them shown and visited. Then they drop that welcome lift and you plummet. Google then says "show me you are a real, worthy website" and you build links, content and social buzz to prove yourself then eventually google reassesses you and ranks you properly. That sounds crap as well. What they said above.... |

Even with little competition you should atleast pay a few dollars and get some backlinks via social bookmarking and directories. The problem with a lot of sites (like 50 or more) is it gets hard to manage them all and google will sometimes drop them like a bad date. Usually when this happens I do some more link building, add some more content and it's back to the races (except I make money at these races) | |

Just having the keyword in the domain will not guarantee you in top positions. Its a boost but most likely nothing more

How good is your on-page SEO? - Have you checked your site against the top ten? I use MS, and when I create my site/page I will add this to the SEO module and compare my site to the top ten in Google for the on-page SEO. I look to have my site fully optomised for every keyword i'm going after, so in MS I have a full block of red Y's.. Then I look to do my internal linking within the site as well as some external links to some authority sites. This is even before I look to do off-page SEO. Chris |
