Hi Quick question to the guru's here: If I have 3 Adblocks on a page, will I get a lower CPC on the clicked ads, than if I had 2 Adblocks - or even 1 Adblock? best regards Halfdan |

The less the better. The very first ad served up is the high paying one, the more ads on the page the chances are that people will click on the other ads giving you less money. |

the maximum you can have is 3 ad placements on your site. The less you have the higher the cpc is, however you need to see which ad gets the most clicks first. If you have a look in your adsense account it should show which ad has been clicked the most. What you should then do, if there is a wide gap between the ad that is being click the most compared to the least, is remove it and you should get a higher cpc. However if you are getting similar clicks on all 3 ads you will have to remove the one that most visitors will definitely see and think of as an advert. This will help get people revisiting your site because they arent getting spammed with ads and you will get a higher cpc + loyalty from your visitors. Go for trial and error this will help you decide ![]() Thanks ~ John X |

Less is not better. Not even close. You want as many people bidding on ads and putting them on your site. Why on earth would you keep 66% of advertisers off of your site. That's crazy. You want to use all 3 for many reasons. What people do not understand most is how adwords works. The reward the best campaigns with LOWER cost. And those best performers will be on top. NOTE: This is NOT the highest CPC. It is the best performing. Sometimes they are the same, most times they are not. If you only have one ad block, you are keeping out new users with deep pockets that NEED to big high to get on top. The last ad on the 3rd ad block may indeed be the highest paying. Having 3 ad blocks gives a huge variety of ads, the more the merrier. You want them strategically place. One at the top, in your face on page load. On in the middle, one at the end. Google even tells you to put one at the bottom. Why? Simple. Someone reads the article, gets to the bottom of the page. Now where is your visitor going? Give them a choice! The order of ads does not dictate the order of price. That is the biggest reason to have all 3 blocks, and something many adsense users do not know. You also need 3 ad blocks to water down the big, global advertisers that put untargeted ads all over the place. Remember, 3 ad blocks does not mean 3 huge 336 blocks. Mix them up. I've tried a zillion layouts. My vote still goes to the way school-grants.org does it. 3 ad blocks beautifully placed. Having 3 ad blocks also allows you have at least one to image. You get three chances at a click. Use 'em all! Paul |

No, link units are not included - I think you can have one or two of those PLUS three ad units, though I don't bother, so can't remember the rules now, I know they changed it a while back, you used to be allowed more link units, I seem to remember. Interesting, differing opinions here - at the end of the day you need to test on your site/s to see what works best. What Paul says probably makes sense IF there are a lot of advertisers in your niche, but I am finding with one site of mine for example that there are only really three or four advertisers bidding for those keywords and that the CPC seems to tail off quite a bit further down the page, so I am just about to try killing off the skyscraper to see how that affects things. I don't necessarily think you need to give them something to click on (i.e. an ad) at the bottom - if your content is not too long, people actually scroll back up and click the top ads (the ones that might have the higher CPC). At least I guess that's what they are doing, judging by the quite high CPCs on the top ad. Just saying: there are all kinds of things going on there, probably vastly differs depending on the niche, the site etc. and you've got to test, test, test for yourself. |

The site has 3 ad blocks and 1 link unit. That's within the rules. 3 blocks, 3 links, 2 search. Your rss feeds can have many more ad blocks. I never remember adsense allowing more than 3 ad blocks on a content page. Paul |

I'm an affliate for a very small business, I know this guy that owns the business from regular contact back & forth via email. This guy has the best product in my niche, very good product for the price. If he would sell his business to me I would buy it in heart beat without haggling (I won't tell him that about the no haggle ).Anyways... He runs an Adwords campaign at the first of the month (every month), runs for about a week like clock work. My Adsense shows his Ads on most pages for a couple of my own sites. Anytime his Ads are on my sites I almost always get a nice spike in $$ & CTR from Adsense. I know it has to be from this guys Ads, I'm 99% sure it's the reason. Those same Adsense Ads are almost always at the bottom of the page, just above the footer of my pages. I've tested this, & actually ran a single Ad block of the same size/type that his Ads usually show up in. His Ads almost never show when running a single Ad block (2 months testing a single Ad block). CTR & $$ didn't spike like normal for those two months of testing. I now always run at least 2 Adsense Ad blocks. Like I said before, I'm also an affliate for this guy (has nothing to do with Adsense), he pays me 25% of the sales I send him & shares awesome sales/traffic data. It's good to be friends with the competition. | |
