Hi, I would be really grateful if anybody could review my site to see why it has been penalized by Google. As discussed in a previous thread it appears to have a severe penalty by google. ![]() I am willing to work to put any errors right and ask google to reconsider. Or start all over again with new URL, but would lke to avoid making same error again My site is: kitchen accessories heaven Thanks for any advice |

How did you come to know it is penalized ..? did you get any mail in webmaster tool..? if yes then work according to the mail and if not then as i checked your site still have 319 pages indexed in google so i dont think its penalized .. keep in mind always use fresh content because duplicate content some time result low ranking in search engine hope you will find these lines useful |

Maybe the text on your pages is to similar to the original (amazon). Quality and unique content is the key to ranking. Although you never know with this panda update. How do you fix it? Google said that once you've been penalized there is no telling when your site will be able to rank again. Could be weeks, could be months. I was thinking about starting a similar site (in a totally different niche), but noticed that almost all review sites were penalized by google. Even the big ones that work hard at providing quality and unique content. Don't know why that is, maybe someone else can shed a light on that. |

It doesn't seem to be specifically penalised but. When searching for the first paragraph of your breville toaster review without " you are right down the bottom of page 1 which is weird as it seems to be unique content on the web. However when putting the " in, your site shows up with 4 different pages with that content duplicated. This is just from the first and only test but if it is happening across the site with other content and you only have 300 odd pages it might be causing a duplicate content issue within your site? |

I have looked at your backlinks and they are almost all from just two sites - the Warrior Forum and a Wordpress blog. After clicking on the wordpress blog and looking for links to your site I cannot find any. If they have all suddenly been taken down this could have a negative effect on your rank. I think you may need to build more relevant, in-content links to your site from a wider range of sources that will stay there and not remove your links in the future (using article marketing, for example). This could help you improve your rank. |

sorry to be dim but could you explain how you found it registering as duplicate content... I know I've been having some issues with a search page, i.e when you click on a page in a web search instead of taking you to that page direct it takes you to a search page that lists all pages that may be relavent. Not been able to work out what may have caused this, would this cause an issue with duplicate content? Thanks for the advice | |

Your site is not penalized at all, because you are still coming top for some long tail keywords. You have probably lost some rankings due to Google QDF / Honeymoon period, or the fact that a previous post stated that 50% of your back links have disappeared.

Google has penalised the sites that had copied content...Please see that there is no copied content on your site or blog.

I am not even sure you are penalized unless Google informed you of the situation. I do only see two backlinks but you are still appearing in Google for long tail keywords and still have over 300 pages indexed. If this is a fairly new site you are just moving around in the SERPS. Many mentioned duplicate content. make sure your content is original.

I'm not sure what to do in wordpress to stop that but your test with the first paragraph returned 8 results for me and some of them went to page not found. Weird!! That is probably why you are getting many pages indexed but they must all be linked frm somewhere

Sounds to me like you need to set a lot of the "junk" pages to "noindex" so Google will not index things such as your search results pages or your tag archives. There is a nice plugin available called wordpress seo by yoast which contains a feature that allows you to alter what is indexed and what is not indexed on your site; might want to give that a look. |

SladeK just suggested a good plugin if it didn't workout properly then you must locate this search box from your wordpress theme editor and should remove it particularly so you can be sure that someone can't search in future . or you can also make use of your robots.txt file . Disallow that search directory to be access by crawlers so you can deindex these unwanted search pages soon from google. Quote:
hope it would help | ||

Hi merlincat, I agree with those telling you that your site is not under a penalty. I see no evidence of a penalty. You are just not ranking well because you haven't yet earned it. You have plenty of competition that have earned higher ranking than you. |

It's nice to know that it has no penalty attached,as two site checkers recommended on other threads have given me a banned result, maybe they are looking for seo business. I know this site has a way to go, but obviously dropping position and traffic suddenly and then getting the above result gave me a bit of a scare. Thanks for everybodys help and advice with the weird search results, all very techie for a newbie ![]() I'll read and digest all the advice and work on the corrections suggested, thanks |

There are several penalties that your site could have incurred: 1) I ran your site through the Google Penalty Checker and found that it WAS, in fact, penalized. You can check it here: SEO Moves | Google Penalty Checker Tool 2) You have COPIED content from Amazon.co.uk. Check out the proof here: Copyscape search results for: http://kitchenaccessoriesheaven.com/red-kitchen-accessories/ That's just ONE little section of text for a red microwave 3) You have FORUM PROFILE links, and links UNRELATED to your blog which Google recognizes as a bl@ckh@t technique: Site Explorer - Search Results My suggestions: REMOVE the copied content, and write content of your own... and get rid of the bad backlinks to your site. Penalties like this can last anywhere from a couple of weeks to months. Hope this helps... P.S. This penalty checker DOES work and is ACCURATE, as I've tested it on several domains that I thought were under penalty after they dropped off of the face of the earth, and also with domains that I knew for sure had no penalty, and this checker was right 100% of the time for both penalized and non penalized domains. |

The only content is some quoted user feedback from amazon, I was advised to add some of these in a war room post. So I wasn't aware that some quotes would cause so much trouble. The rest of the site is my writing and content (except obvious manufacturer names specs). Again I have read on other threads that a wide range of backlinks, not just subject relevant, was desirable. so are the links from WF blackhat? Should all sigs that not related to im be removed? I'm getting confused as to what to do at the moment, but thank you for checking for penalty for me. |

1) I wouldn't check those "penalty checkers" further than I could throw them. At the best, they are just checking your current rankings and telling you that you have a "penalty" because you aren't ranking in the top 200 (or something). But bouncing around in the SERPs is completely normal for a new site. At the worst, they are mining for keyword data that they can exploit. The "Google penalty checker" is not run or endorsed by Google, BTW. 2) I wouldn't worry about small bits of customer testimonials on your site. This is a very common strategy, and as long as your pages are mostly unique content you should be OK. However, if you are concerned, you can always paraphrase. 3) Having "unrelated" links to your site is perfectly fine. Contextual, relevant links are great to have, but other links will help you rank just fine as well. Ignore anyone who tells you otherwise. I wouldn't worry about having links in your WF signature at all. Just make sure that you have a good diversity of links coming from various sources - not just one type of link. |

If the issue of indexing then your site's pages would be indexed slowly, if you haven't used duplicate content on your site. it is not sure that all pages of site would be indexed in one day by Google. |
