Replacing WP blog with straight html?

I have a static html site with a Wordpress blog in a directory:

http://www.mydomain.com/blog/

I've just bought a new site theme (html) to replace my main site with. The theme also has a blog set up in it (index, post, archive) but these are all html pages within the main site.

Are there any repercussions in replacing my WP blog structure with the new html setup? I can use the same directory structure if necessary.

As far as SEO advantages from Wordpress I've never found that to be true. But switching from WP to "static" is a totally different thing.

Of course it would be ideal if I could get the same theme in WP but I don't know if this is possible.


UPDATE: I just found out from the designer that a WP verson of my theme will be available soon. Problem solved.

I personally use Wordpress over static HTML sites.

There are so many advantages of Word Press as it pertains to the search engines.

Nothing against html static sites, other than they lose when it comes to which is easier to rank.

If you do not care about seo and are going to drive traffic with other means, then HTML sites can compare or maybe even have an edge, due to simplicity and less design time.

Although ive never tried it , its not something i would even want to consider , especially if you still plan to use it as a blog, there will come a time when you keep posting new posts etc and you think , "dam i need this content to be managed" or you will need to edit something and will have to edit every single page rather than just editing one template etc.

Bad move if you ask me , Pay the cash and get someone to make a wordpress theme out of your html it costs next to nothing now days
