How I get huge conversion rates in any niche

When I first attempted internet marketing I tried my hand at PPC. Being clueless I bid on every keyword I could think of, some of which were totally untargeted. My conversion rates were miserable.

Today I can get conversion rates in excess of 30%. I don't have a list (never have had one). I get very high conversion rates by bringing product buyer traffic to my websites and it's very easy to do as competition is usually low for the types of keywords I'm talking about.

A lot of affiliate marketers want to get ranked or bid on product names which is good but someone searching for just the product name could be an information seeker. I don't want information seekers, I want BUYERS ONLY! People who are sitting at their computer with their credit card right next to them.

So I only get my website ranked for these type of keywords:

order/buy/purchase *product name*

where to order/buy/purchase *product name*

where can I order/buy/purchase *product name*?

*product name* (name of country e.g Singapore, UK, Canada, Australia etc..)

order/buy/purchase *product name* (name of country)

I need to buy/order/purchase *product name*

I want to buy/order/purchase *product name*

Conversions are ridiculously high. There are days when I have 100% conversions doing this. You only need a tiny trickle of traffic each day to make good money.

Getting ranked in the organic search results is normally no problem as most people are busy going after "review" keywords which are ok but don't convert nearly as well as product buyer keywords.

There are thousands upon thousands of products out there to promote and by concentrating ONLY on these very specific buyer keywords you can make a lot of money.

Try it and you'll see what I mean

This is cool but after doing a few checks with the adwords tool, every time I add "buy" to anything it shows a VERY low search volume (like, not worth bothering with). surely this can't work for many niches?

I don't trust the Google keyword tool. Sometimes when it shows low search volume it's actually quite high. I prefer to use Google Instant.

Well it works where anyone wants to buy something so that's a lot of niches. Think of all the thousands of products on Amazon.

I don't do PPC now as it's so easy to get #1 organic rankings. If I was to do a PPC campaign I'd go for phrase and exact match.

Oh 400 backlinks would be more than enough. Heck I don't have any backlinks for some of the buyer keywords I rank for.

It's a targeting method. Add to that compelling persuasive copy-writing and you win.

I've gone to the extreme of blocking out all foreign traffic that can not buy what I am offering. It's not hard to do. Traffic means nothing if it can't buy from you. Nice post!

Question 2: do you do 1 product per site or many products per site?

My concern if you do this with many products for 1 site is it could start looking like a thin affiliate site without some beefier content and result in lousy SEO.

Thanks for the tip, it only makes sense that people who are looks for "how / where to buy product xyz" would convert insanely well, they know they want to now they just need to find a site that sells it.

On my pages I simply have information about the product and where they can order it. They've decided they want to buy it before even getting to my site so I have no preselling to do.

All I do is direct them to the merchant website

So a brief product description with a link underneath..

Click here to order from the official *product name* website

One product per site works best. Although it's ok to promote different products on one site as long as they're in the same niche. I wouldn't set up one site with different products in different niches.

This works amazingly well. In fact I created a brand new website in a brand new niche a few days ago. I like to watch my traffic stats closely and I noticed my very first organic visitor from Google resulted in a sale. 1 visitor/ 1 sale.

I've tested this with different products, different niches, with Clickbank/Amazon you name it the results are the same - very high conversion rates.

Here's an example..

Let's say you decide to promote a digital camera, say the Canon t3i

You don't want to rank for cameras - too competitive, info seekers, low conversions

You don't want to rank for Canon cameras either - too competitive, info seekers, low conversions

You don't want to rank for Canon t3i - too competitive, some info seekers, some buyers, low conversions

You don't want to rank for Canon t3i review/reviews - too competitive, some info seekers, some buyers, low conversions

Forget all those keywords!

Go straight for the BUYERS. You want the visitors that have already done all the research on that camera on other websites and are going to purchase it on yours.

So let's go to Google..I'll show you what I mean.



As you can see I've typed in buy canon t3i

Here's where Google Instant is very useful. It shows me all the product buyer keywords, keywords that people actually type into Google.

and in reverse too..




Now I might type in "where"



and so on...

Play around with it.

Once you have about 10 keywords these can be used as anchor text for building links pointing to your page. Ranking for these is easy. Sometimes just on-page SEO is enough.

Think how many products are on Amazon.com, on sites like Shopping.com etc. Need ideas for niches and products? Have a look at Shopping.com's top searches

100% agree, when I first started I looked at 30k searches for a broad keyword, which I think was silly.

With exact buyer's tong tail kw, it is not only easier to dominate page #1, it is also more targeted. For instance even with a low 1000 exact searches for the targeted kw, I will be expecting about 400 visits and even with a low 20% conversion it translate to 80 sales a month, and this is from only one keyword, you can do the maths for yourself if you have multiple keywords.

Always go for the low hanging fruit, especially when you are just starting out.

I agree matt... and, OP, while I agree "buying" keywords would convert better, the searches are just too low.

How can you say google keyword tool is wrong? I use this and market samurai to get my data... and they're usually the same... and now you're saying they're wrong... can you back this up?

Here's what I do, I choose a good selling product on Amazon, I do the keyword research, high searches with low competition, and get an EMD .com when possible.

Yes I do that but I always get permission to use the product name in the domain. Having a keyword rich domain isn't really necessary though.

I like to keep domain names short, no more than 3 words. For the long tail buyer keyword phrases I include them in page titles. Just by scattering some of these words on your pages you can easily attract these buying visitors.

The Google keyword can be very misleading especially if it shows low numbers (under 500) I've found many keywords that bring a lot of traffic yet Google shows zero searches.

These keywords don't get a lot of search volume but they convert so well that I make far more from this traffic than sites with 100 visitors a day from less targeted keywords.

If I had a choice of a website getting 6 buyer visitors a day or another site getting 100 visitors a day who were targeted but not necessarily buyers I'd choose the site with 6 visitors a day every single time.

Small amounts of buyer traffic + lots of different products = large amounts of buyer traffic = lots of money

I've got to go with the OP on this one. 170 people who are looking to buy are better than 14,000 searches on people who are just looking for info on an "electric mower". I've actually started incorporting more of the Google suggestion keywords into my pages.

Traffic may be low, but you truly can't get more ultra targeted than "buy product name". Whenever I use a search like that, I'm essentially 99% ready to buy with my credit card in hand.

If you turn OFF Google Instant & go to the Google home page to do your keyword research, you'll double your search results (max) from 5 results to 10 results per search.

Then leave a blank space at the end of your search (arrow in screenshot below).

Yeah, it is good strategy. But usually on keywords like buy [...] etc. are a lot of websites/pages with high Pageranks and low searches per month (usually under 200/300 on ebooks etc.).

On the landing pages, I suggest you offer a similar product for free in exchange for an opt-in. This way, you can build targeted leads and still get purchases from the visitors.

If you're right about this... then this is huge! I mean, what I've learned about keyword research is to use keyword tool and market samurai.

It sounds to me like you just go with a keyword, like "buy" that appears in google instant, and even if it has zero results, you target it and get lots of traffic... you just wing it without any hard data?

I've 4 amazon sites I'm working on at the mo... I've gone for EMD's with an "i" infront of them, example, ielectriclawnmower.com

I've got one up which is 100% EMD.org.

How do you target your long tail keywords, like, "buy electric lawnmowers online"

Do you have a domain, buyelectriclawnmowers.com?

Or do you just use lots of backlinks with this anchor text?

No reason to use an EMD (hxxp://www.canoncamerareview.com).

I would use a generic domain name & rank an internal page example, hxxp://www.camerazone.com/canon-5d/ this way you won't have anyone getting pissed off over copyright on the domain name. Not much anyone can do about ranking an internal page.

Assumes your not trying to clone the canon website & trying to trick customers/traffic.

Regarding the 10 keywords. do you just do onpage seo for 2-3 keywords and then use the other 7 as anchor text only?

This is an EXAMPLE.Okay, say you search buy procerin using exact google instant. Say google keyword tool show zero searches as exact. How do you check the searches with google instant. Sorry I ask because I want to be sure about this.
