Default Google Places listing questions - duplicate listings

Hey,
I have been learning about how to rank in google places and wanted to some practical experience, so I went and claimed the existing business listing for my mothers company to see if i could boost its ranking (with her permission of course).

This was a few weeks ago. Didnt make any real changes, just verified the listing, added in the fax number, some more specific categories etc etc to get the ball rolling. I then lost interest in it until now.

I searched for the listing and its still in the same place as expected (at position "I" aka 9th position). I then noticed that on the next page of placs results was a duplicated listing at position 11, but under a slightly different name and with minimum info pulled from directories etc.

I am wanting to claim this duplicate listing, but am unsure as to which one to then optimise and delete the other completely. This would seem like an easy choice by picking the 9th ranked one over the 11th one i just found. However the 9th ranked one has a total of two reviews both of which are bad (one google review and one external review). The 11th ranked page has no reviews at all. So which one should i optimise and which should i delete? I dont want to just optimise both because they will probably both get deleted due to duplicate listings eventually.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Even if the two only reviews are bad ones?

Also another question, a few weeks ago when i altered some basic info on the listing i added in opening hours for the business. When i view the listing however this info is no where to be seen. It should say something like "opening hours: today - 9:00 to 5:00" then a little box you click to expand and see the rest of the hours for the week. However this isnt there, how come?

Hey, usually these topics get addressed faster in the "Offline" section of the forum. Anyway, you don't want any of the two listings removed. You need them merged. You need to claim the second listing and make sure that ALL the information is the same in both listings (absolutely the same). Then you go on the Internet and search for all the places where your mother's business was listed and fix the information so that it corresponds to the one you want to appear on Google Places. If you want some specific answers you could post the links to the Place pages here, PM me or email me.
