Default Google won't crawl my site!

How do I get google to look at my site? I want to do a press release and I've been waiting weeks for google to update my admittedly low-traffic site, but they just don't want to know.

Thanks!

I've submitted to dmoz but hell will freeze over before they get around to looking at my submission

Have submitted to a few care home directories, but it's not exactly a big fast-moving part of the internet, nobody really has any pagerank to speak of.

Any other good directories that you know of?

Hi,

Do you have a google webmaster account set up? If you don't get one set up. Once you have set it up create a sitemap for your website. This will help get your website indexed.

I would suggest you submit your website to social bookmarking websites and good PR directories.

I have a few hundred do follow blogs and hundreds of directory lists on my site but I'm not sure yet if I can post the URL so I need to read up on the rules first.

Indeed there are so many ways to get your site indexed and quickly. If you just set up the Google sitemap it will get indexed.

If it has been cached then it has been indexed. I have checked and it has been indexed. You need to work on building backlinks to your website. Without backlinks you can forget about obtaining good serps unless you use long tailed keyword phrases.

Best way I've found is to get backlinks and ping it every day.

I've had a sitemap up for a few weeks on webmaster tools - the sitemap works fine for springfieldhousemorley.com, but the version with www in front of it reckons that my sitemap is an HTML file?! Hopefully a temporary glitch.

I don't want to waste money on a press release until google have actually indexed my revised (SEO friendly) content - ironically I'll probably get a full crawl AFTER the press release. Was going to use prweb.com, they seem pretty reputable.

Google have cached a couple of the most recent pages, but the rest were last cached around May 2nd-4th. I've been messing about with the crawl rate in webmaster tools, but from what I've read it's not likely to help me.

Thank you for your suggestions, please keep them coming

Hi,

I don't feel comfortable to call you either Monkey or Madman.

Nevermind.

If you use Wordpress, do permalink immediately.

Have you submitted your Site Posts to any RSS Feed Syndicator and Social Bookmarking Site?

Do that.

Then ping your sites.

Spiders should be on their way after that.

Once you update your site with anything new like content, title, meta tags etc. it's always better to ping your site at pingler.com, pingomatic.com and pingoat.com so that search engines can easily find out the updates of your site. Social bookmarking in top bookmarking sites and ping your website in the aforementioned sites can help your site to get crawled by Google very quickly!

Hi Everybody,
The search engine (SE) marketing technique maybe of less importance if search engines only provided a small percentage of traffic. We have to accept that SE are a major part of our quest to drive eager customers to our site in order to achieve the sales and then the profits.

There are many forms or techniques you can use to bring people to your website. The most important way people visit your website is when they type a query into one of the main search engines. They can also get to your site by word of mouth, via another link from another website, via a web directory, an article or press release or by an ad while shopping for something they were looking for. People online have found out that the search engines provide the most relevant information they are looking for to buy. Again do not underestimate the power of the SE nowadays.

If you don't pay attention to the search engine traffic, your website is doomed to fail miserably because this is where the money is. The only problem is that just like you there are many others competing for the same trophy. That coveted trophy is to get to the number one position in Google, because that where the real traffic is. You can do paid traffic like pay per click and outsource this task, but you will end up spending more than earning and then you will soon realize that internet marketing is not for you.

If you have a small business web page, SE are very important. If you want to put your name all over and let people know about what you offer, get started right now and start submitting your page around. The adage of build it and they will come will not happen if you don't tell the search engines first. Many businesses try to focus on one or two particular keywords that describe their business, but fail to take a look the other aspects of search engine optimization. Driving visitors to your website is the key not the page ranking issue. People must like what they see first in order for the search engines send the traffic your way.

The main point to clarify here is that the web user is looking for information on an item or service he wishes to purchase and he wants to use well his time. We as vendors or affiliate marketers must make every effort to make their visit useful and above all productive leading them to buy at our website. Every web surfer is different, they have various desires and they all use several ways to get where they want to go. Having a plan or strategy in place will help you and them to make their experience well worth it.

You want to move up in the ranks, that is a fact and teething you souls strive for. Don't ever think that you can flip a switch and it will happen that fast. Google don't give page ranking that easy, you will have to earn that privilege, but guess what once you get there it will be forever. Search engines will be here as long the Internet Superhighway is alive and well. We are in a digital age and this will be our way of life, so get used to it. If you want visibility for your internet business, you need to work hard. More visitors means more business but you have to have determination and patience to achieve success.

Only 2 pages of your site are indexed in google. Use the pingler plugin. Install it in your firefox browser and ping all the pages of your site every day and see what will happen.

I have a 4-year old do-follow blog. I sell ad space and accept paid blog posts and links for reasonable and affordable costs. For more details contact me directly at empressofdrac[at]gmail[dot]com. And oh, I also accept Guest Article Submission.

Its not a big deal, try to do a little bit of bookmarking, spread it over social networks, say, twitter. but for this purpose you need to have healthy profile with sound figure of followers.

been trying everything I can think of to get google to index my site but dang, nothing seems to work.

Has anyone had any trouble with deindexing by using a wix flash based site? That's when all my trouble seemed to start. I have since bailed on them but the indexing issue hasn't been solved.

Try submitting your site to identi.ca and also add to Google Webmaster Tools and click on Fetch as Googlebot. Do these at the same time.
