Website On Page 1 Of Google-Now I'm Lost!

Hey Guys:
I am a good writer (from NYC) and new to the Warrior Forum, and I really feel I'm in the right place to get the direction I need. I purchased Google Sniper and went to work. Now I am so lost in space Scottie can't help me! Here's the skinny............

Here Is What I Attempted:
*I set up a wordpress blog (for affiliate marketing)
*I purchased a domain name which is my keyword phrase and a .com
*I wrote 5 posts relating to my niche and it's subcategories
*I wrote 9 parent pages relating to the affiliates products and used My afflinks in the copy so the visitor would land on the merchant's page
*I have been on page #1 of Google for the last three weeks and it only took me 4 days to get there using that Google Sniper method
* I wrote 3 articles a week ago and they are on page #1 of Google right along with my website
*All this was looking good, but I feel I made a wrong turn somewhere. Everything is at a standstill (including me)! HELP!

HOWEVER, I'm not getting any hits and not making any money so I need for a few of you to give me your 2 cents on where I went wrong or what I need to incorporate. If I need to restructure the whole website I will. I ain't scared of hard work and I enjoy this work.
I think I did a good job on the keyword research because I took my time and money isn't the end all for right now, I need to learn. I have a fabulous 119 page ebook for the newbie (with great screenshots) on how to build a website in one day.
I don't really want to do reviews because I'm not going to use everything I promote and I'm not going to lie to my audience.
I have 2 other projects that await me, but i refuse to get distracted before I get this one right. I know about information overload and analysis paralysis so I'm asking for your help.
I want to thank you in advance because I know you warriors will come to rescue big time, so I'll just sit here and stare at my screen awaiting some replies.

How much traffic does that keyword get?

Your probably limiting yourself with a longtailed keyword

You may have targeted a search phrase that doesn't generate many global searches.

You can use the google adwords tool to check out your search term and how many searches it generates on average.

If this is the case, I'd recommend aiming for a broader keyword phrase in your niche by creating some new pages or possibly re-doing your keyword research and keyword targeting campaign all together. Just really hard to say without more information, but I hope the adwords tool can help point you in the right direction.

Also, like the poster above said, long tail keywords can be difficult to generate traffic from even if the google reports say they have some traffic.

For example, I purchased EMD for a particular long term keyword that google adwords tool showed around 1k global monthly searches. However, the data for that particular long tail keyword wasn't very accurate as the site only saw a tiny fraction of traffic (for #1 position) as the keyword phrase simply wasn't being looked up as often as google said or it may have been a spike in searches for that term (not sure.) because the next month the global monthly searches for that term were cut by half.

I agree with LMC.

It's possible your keyword doesn't get much traffic.

You should also consider the fact that you can't expect instant results. As much as it's important for you to stay focused, you need multiple streams of income.

Choose your projects according to income potential.

In fact it's best if you are working a on a short term (smaller money) and a long term project (big money) at the same time.

I too am a Sniper. Did you make sure to search for the keyword in the "Phrase" search and not the "Broad"? The difference can be quite dramatic. Also, like the others are asking, how much traffic are you getting or do you even know?

I get rather confused with the global monthly searches vs the local searches. Everyone seems to have a different idea about which one to be the most concerned with.
Can you give your opinions on how you utilize those numbers?

LOL! You might be right about that, I may not know how.
Any insight from you and I'll get right on it, I want to get this right because I know it can work.
However, I believe in slow and steady wins the race. I want to get this first model right and then start to duplicate. I have no time frame and greed isn't running my life, so I'm good.

Local monthly searches are used when you specify a specific country or region for your search terms. Like if you wanted to see how many people are searching google.uk for a term.

Global is how often the term is search for on google's network as a whole and is the one you should focus on unless you are needing localized traffic for some reason.

The adwords tool issues a board overview for how often that term or phrase has been looked up over a 12 month sample. Finding and targeting the right keyword can be a job itself.

For quicker traffic you go after more exact phrase searches like 'Professional photography product model blah blah' in conjunction with the idea of later ranking for a broader term such as 'Professional photography product'. The idea is to make sure both have search traffic.

If you did your keyword research correctly it could be that Google is personalizing your searches, try logging out of your Google account if you're logged in, or try scroogle.com.

Also the search numbers are sometimes skewed. Google goes back 12 months to get the monthly average, Wordtracker 12 months to get the daily average. For example the term "electric heaters" shows 8,100 exact match local searches right now, but that's not the true picture (not in the US anyway), take a look Google trends/insights and you'll get a very different picture. And also the keyword tools also skews the numbers with there queries.

You guys were right! The global was 76 and the local was 36. Oh well.
Now, is it possible to keep my domain name and make sure all my pages and posts are SEO'd properly with broader longtail keywords?
Or, do I need a whole new domain to make this work out?
The anti-aging niche covers a lot of possibilities. Any ideas?

You can try this. Go back and search the keyword again. I'm sure that keyword that is your domain must have been way down on a list of keywords being it only got less than 100. Go up the list and find keywords that maybe have 1000 (that's a thousand TY) searches Global Monthly. Try putting a few of those keywords as title posts and add a few pages with a short article about that new keyword. You MAY get some more traffic based on those articles with the new keywords in 'em. Of course, make sure the keywords are related to your original articles and what you are promoting. This may help you get a bit more traffic. I see a lot of promotions that come up in the rankings of Google that aren't the sites main posts or main keyword. It worth a shot.

If you're able to get 3-4 different sites / articles on page 1 of Google without much of a hassle I can say, with nearly full confidence, that your keyword isn't popular.

However, at the very least it was a good learning experience. You've already made it further than most, actually getting everything up and running / ranking.

I'm new to Google trends/insights but I'll start using that as one of my research tools to get a better look at my keywords.

Thank you for that information, I guess that niche was smaller than I thought. However, can I just optimize my articles, posts and pages to get traffic to my website?
