Forum Profiles: Ping 1st layer? 2nd layer? Both?

Hi everyone,

I've read up on forum profiles and pinging/indexing. Lots of great information.

I have a pyramid of forum profiles. 1st layer has approximately 300 links and 2nd layer has approximately 3000 links.

My questions are:

1) Do I only ping the 2nd layer? Or do I ping both layers? If I index both layers, which layer do I index first? My thought is I would only need to ping the 2nd layer, which will trickle to the 1st layer. Please correct me if I am wrong.

2) If I ping only the 2nd layer, how many should I ping per day to be safe?

3) Does it matter which method we use to get our links indexed? As in, does using the RSS Feed method carry more weight than pingofarm or pingdevice?

Maybe consider indexing instead. This 2nd Tier is what I would ping, rather than the 1st Tier.
