Default Resolving SERP differences among different locations???

Hey guys,

I was doing some keyword research when I came across one I'm not sure whether or not I should go for. The keyword has great search volume and low competition in terms of every criteria, but the problem is the searches are originating from just about every English-speaking country imaginable.

Considering how SERPs can differ wildly based on where the search is being done, how can I trust my competition analysis? And if I really go through and build a site with it, how am I supposed to check the keyword rank?

Hope that all made sense!

Thanks!

That's true search result will always vary in keyword research based on various criteria like language, region and so on. So first of all you need to focus which region you want to target. And then make keyword research and competitor analysis according to your targeted area

For Keyword rank checking in SERP, first of all sign out from your all email accounts like gmail, clear history, cookies and sessions from browser. And then go to the google domain for the area you are targeting for. For example if you are targeting uk then you should go to co.uk domain of Google And then check the SERP

That's what I do when the majority of searchers come from just one single location. But I don't know what to do with this keyword because the traffic is almost equally dispersed across five locations. I wouldn't be able to get the majority of the traffic no matter which location I target.

The Google Keyword Tool is the only tool you can "trust". If you used the Advanced Options and Filter's it will show you what is the search demand for other countries. Using that, and this Firefox/Chrome plugin to determine the strength of your competition is really all you need.

Google Global Firefox & Chrome Extension - Addon For Search Marketers To View Google Search Results From Any Location - Redfly Online Marketing, Dublin, Ireland

You would want to setup a list of English speaking countries for it.

If your SEO optimization is focused only in English, you should rank well in Google UK, Australia, USA, and so forth. Visitors from different locations will always see different results because Google always gives results based on location, and personalized search (or other settings they use) and more importance to ccTLDs, which is out of your control.

But you will normally find if your site gains traction in the SERPs, your traffic will definitely increase over time, because what happens is it will start ranking for many of the other regional Google searches, without you doing any work at all. So there is no reason to worry about this. It will go up, if your domain authority increases.
