Default Disabling Youtube Comments - bad for SEO?

Am I right to assume that if you disabled comments on your YouTube videos, it wouldn't be good for SEO? I'm not 100% sure on this but I believe that having comments enabled helps with views, and that the more views you've got, the higher the ranking of your video is. That's what I think anyway.

There are some videos that I want to disable comments on but I'm not sure if I should due to what I pointed out. What is your experience with this?

Why do they help? Unless folks are using your keywords but you can't really control that. Most of the comments on my YouTube videos are pure drivel. And some are just vulgar. Peeps love to swear and be nasty sometimes in the comments.

I allow comments on my videos but I have considered disabling them sometimes.

I know what you mean. People do seem to let their frustrations out with youtube comments. But, I do think that they are helpful to gain a little more of a following than when comments are disabled. If people are talking about your video, whether it is good or bad, this will attract more of an audience than without comments.

I know that I have read through other comments about a video from time to time before I choose to click play. I can only assume that this will happen for others as well.

I agree with you, that's why I haven't disabled comments but that's more of social media effect vs. gaining SEO leverage directly from YouTube comments right?

I'm just confused how YouTube comments can give an SEO boost. Do those comments help with SE rankings? Or do the two just mesh well?
