ive found which I think may potentially be a profitable keyword, BUT on the first page wikihow is on the rankings, the results are only 15,000 and it gets around 2,000 global searches a month which is not bad..... do you think this is an easy keyword to rank for as wikihow is an authority site ranked on the 1st page?? is it possible to rank?? |

From the information you've given, I would be confident of getting onto the first page.

no don't rank for it.. 2,000 global searches can be like 100 exact searches in which at #1 you'd get maybe 1-2 clicks a day. Waste of time.. |

| And by being a senior here on warriorforum I'd think you'd be a little more helpful. All he's provided was that Wikihow was on the first page. How can you be confident in getting on the first page? He's provided little to no information.

| See, don't waste your time. 140 exact searches a month is equal to about 4-5 searches a day. Even if you got to the #1 spot you'll only receive about 60% of the traffic. 60% of 5 searches/day = 2-3 searches for your website/day. Not worth it. |

"Buy Dog Food Online" phrase counts the following terms, "Buy Food Dog Online" "Online Dog Food Buy" "Online Buy Dog Food" you see? it's taking all the searches from all the possible combinations of the 4 words. If you wanted the 2400 exact searches you'd have to rank for all the possible combinations. Exact counts as the following terms, "Buy Dog Food Online" that's it. | |

| Phrase means there could be words surrounding you keyword, before and after it. For example: "best [keyword] ever". While exact means that the user will be typing in just the keyword: "[keyword]".

you need to check how many backlinks of the first three pages of that keyword have and see their anchor texts and pr. might be a long process but this makes it easy to make sure you can rank for a keyword

I recommend downloading and using a free SEO plugin from somewhere like SEO Quake. Then when you type in a search phrase, the information you need to know to gauge competition will be there underneath each listing. You want to look for low PR (page rank) for the listings, and low amounts of Y!Links. Having 2 or 3 or more PR 0's and/or PR n/a's will mean that it's worth trying to rank for that keyword. But, I usually won't try to rank for a keyword unless it gets 1,000 or more "exact" searches per month. |
