Not an easy question to answer. 1) Everyone has different strengths and dispositions and might naturally do better at one over the other. 2) What do you mean by blogging? Blogging won't make you anything. If you're asking how to monetize your blogging that's different and there's no reason affiliates can't blog to make their sales. Be more specific about what it is you want to know, find out more about each, take a good look at yourself and then decide which one you'd rather do. |

Affiliate Marketing is the highly profiting area of Internet marketing. For a newbie it will be difficult in the beginning but all failures are worth it because there is a very big money on it. Blogging will not give you that much money but you can easily make some pennies without any difficulties! |

| If you are populating the blog with high quality content (which of course require your time or money) you should be able to make a good income. Give a try, because that is what u should do in a business.

Why not blog while trying to generate sales with affiliate marketing at the end of one month of blogging. Then put a couple adsense ads up along the side of your blog. This would be a way to try a little of everything out.

| Then it comes down to this for blogging: If you want to create a hub for that kind of content and can't afford to outsource all your content for a site like that you'll probably have to do it all yourself. You wanna do all that? It shouldn't be crap content and the better you understand whatever the niche is the better. If you wanted to create mini sites that make a little but they're quick and easy to rank for and then move on to the next one that might be easier than what you proposed - depends on you and what you're willing to do and have fun with. More info here. But for what you proposed you'll probably need to go for a niche that either has a high enough volume of traffic and make your money with lower paying Adsense ads (You're earnings will accumulate in quantity) or a niche that has a higher commercial intent that you can tap into to get Adsense ads that will pay you more - may have less volume. If you're niche has a lot of competition get ready to do your SEO like a beast if you want the search engine exposure and the traffic volume and you'd better be patient. In the beginning you could funnel traffic from other sites like joining related forums and posting a lot, funneling traffic through article directories to your site, etc. If you can find something with more commercial intent that has doable competition in the search engines that might be better. When you make some money in the beginning don't go buy some cool toy - put it back into your work, make it better and even out-task some of the work while you are busy doing something else even if it's just at some place like fiverr.com Play smart. Strategically marketing as an all out affiliate is potentially more work with greater rewards if you get good at it and know what you're doing but not everyone is cut out for it and there's no one way to do it. Blogging requires lots of content, writing and other hard work to monetize in a way that will be good enough that you feel it's worth pursuing. Either way, blogging or affiliate stuff, you are marketing because you have to find a hungry audience with buying intent or high interest (a passion of theirs), be able to create, communicate effectively and deliver the content your audience considers valuable in order for this to work out for you. Make it Win/Win Be different, have a personality, be creative and take some risks, cause it won't always be clear what you should do. If you get disappointed easily ignore that and keep going. I can't see why you wouldn't do product reviews and also have affiliate links to Amazon or whatever instead of just Adsense ESPECIALLY when you're talking about having a blog about electronics. I'd rather have Amazon ads than Adsense ads in a case like that if I had to choose one. Having both Amazon and Adsense might be giving people too much choice but you'll never really know unless you test both and find out what works better for you. If you develop something that gains some popularity you could even charge for ad space or banners and that'll be another stream of income for you. But right now focus on giving people what they want first. If you do that you'll get what you want later. So, don't half ass it. Asking "Blogging vs. Affiliate Marketing" is like asking "drive around in my car or drive around in my car and get paid to advertise someone's business on it" It wasn't a good question. Blogging is a means to an end. That "means" is your marketing. Ultimately do what's the most fun for you. Say thanks. This is one of the best answers you'll get short of somebody writing a book for you or holding your hand throughout the whole process. |

You may try to do blogging first if you are a newbie. Apply for adsense, infolinks, etc and incorporate it with your blogs. Then later on you may add affiliate products and promote it in your own blogs. | |

I think you are starting with the wrong question. First of all, you need to ask "What value can I offer to other people? How can I serve them better?" Then you can start choosing and experimenting with ways to monetize from them. Look, people won't click on your Adsense ads or Affiliate link if your content simply stinks. The "X" button on their browser is more appealing to click. I have done it, changed my mindset and made my first $100 in one day with many more to come. Hope this advice helps. -Andrew |

You mean building authority sites within niches, I don't personally consider that blogging but it depends on how you do it I guess. Which is better, affiliate marketing or developing authority sites? How much time do you have before you need to make money? Do you understand SEO and how to drive traffic? If you know how to drive traffic and can get good rankings for keywords, can get quality backlinks and do the other SEO stuff required, then I would say start off with affiliate marketing and then spend more time on building up authority sites to do affiliate marketing on. You can develop a good income with this method and the more sites you build up the more income. Make sure you clarify your association/relationship to the product so it is clear from the readers stand point you are paid to present it to them on your site. If you do not know how to drive traffic, free or paid then I would spend most of my time learning how to do that. If you need to make money faster than 60 to 90 days before seeing your first check or paypal deposit then I would focus on developing a business strategy and do Joint Ventures with others. I built groups from JV's where we did one thing in each group, we focused on one area and everyone in that group did that for 30 days. I had 6 groups that did various things, one did affiliate marketing, one did list building, one did traffic generation etc... by the end of 60 days everyone that participated in each group had great results. I don't think anyone made less than 1k dollars some made a lot more. The ones that did not do anything didn't make anything and complained a lot and said it was a massive failure. Sucked to be them but it was there own fault, not mine. I would do something like that, but if you are paranoid type where everyone is out to steal your ideas then don't do the JV thing it will cause you migraine headaches and everyone will end up stealing your ideas. - T |
