Default Adword LP, QS & Links

Hi Guys,

Adwords question.

Which is more likely a campaign to hit QS10 keywords.

A.One where landing pages are "on-site" and having quality links built to them but not perfectly themed to the individual traffic keyword

or

B.One where the landing page is "off-site" and fully themed to the keyword term but Not Indexed or linked to or anything etc.

Or does it all simply come down to CTR and Conversion Ratios?

Looking for a little expert advice.

Many people will say that you need a good ctr / cr to increase q score or improve it and there may be some indications this is true.

But more often than not good preparation before hand in having good content, good page structure in your headings page titles descriptions, good navigation, site structure, and lastly having a good related ad to tie it all in with the right key word will produce pages of q 10 scores before a single click ever happens / in effect negating the ctr / cr is needed as you can bat q10 with out them from the get go.

I'm quite surprised by that.

Out of the gate I've generally gotten only QS7 and had heard that was as high as you could go to begin with and that CTR took you the rest of the way.

Although your picture would seem to proove otherwise.
I will have to give this a go on a new campaign.

Interestingly though I had the chance to see a very nice account for hotels recently.

They had a QS10 term going to the homepage for which the homepage wasn't particuarly optimised but had been around since 2005 and ranked well naturally for that term, hence my interest.

Perhaps it's horses for courses, if it ranks well naturally probably good chances of High QS for those terms on related ad's and so can go onsite-link. For variations and the like build "off-site" pages.

One thing I would say is that if your QS10 terms got a poor CTR I'd imagine the QS would fall, but if they are that well setup then it's hardly likely is it! So i guess it makes sense that you can get QS10 out of the gate.

Thanks for the reply, has helped steer my course!

QS is all a guesing game. Nothing else is in the mix yet. Until you go live. Then it's all CTR. Your initial QS is based on, well, *nothing really. Only speculation. Your QS10 could go to a 6 real quick. It really is all about CTR. Reverse for a QS7 going to a 10. Get a terrific CTR.

*nothing meaning what someone thinks it may or may not be. Initial QS will quickly become
irrelevant.
