webmaster tools help please..

Hey warriors.

I am trying to verify my site for google webmaster tools, and google told me to upload a file to my site.

So i went into cpanel and uploaded it but it does not seem to work

lol

It's wordpress installed on the domain so is there something different that i have to do.

When i go to cpanel and go to the domain in public html. there are no files there, but if i just go to public html then i see my word press files, so do i upload the webmaster html to one of my wordpress files or what?

If someone could please help me out

wordpress works the same way. sounds like you just uploaded it to the wrong directory. perhaps you should use ftp and make this a bit easier?

I don't know about ftp, i like cpanel :-)

Do you know which directory i upload it to is it a wp-,

i just had a look again and there is a wp-admin,wp-content and wp-includes, directories, does anyone know which one i upload to please.

Don't use the upload file option.

Use the code that you paste into your site/page source code.

Have you tried using the meta tag option very easy to do

Yh thats what i just did lol

I just noticed it and had a little fidle around and it worked woohhoooo :-)

I am stuck on something else now though lol, i have the simple site map plugin.

But how do i submit my site map to webmaster tools?

another thing in webmaster tools it won't tell me my keywords or my links :-(

doeas anyone know why, is it because i have only just added the site to webmaster?

GWT (Google Webmaster Tools) will only show data from the first day you post the tracking code on your site --> forward. So everything in the past won't show up in GWT.

Also, GWT is like 5 days behind when it updates keywords, etc... (very slow).
