hi I read somewhere that there is little value in backlinking between your own websites because google can tell that they are on the same server and kind of treats them more like internal links. Is this true? And if so, is there any logic in maybe having two separate hosting accounts with some websites on one and some on the other, that way any linking between the two would be better value? Does anybody do this, or am i talking nonsense? thanks |

Also very important: Separate hosting won't do you any good if your DOMAIN NAMEs are registered under the same name (another connection they can make) To avoid this and stay undetectable use Private Registration with separate hosting. | |

If you are building less than 100 sites I really would not bother worrying about hosting on different c blocks. If you are going this path though also note that some hosting providers do offer different c blocks but make sure their servers are not all located within the same location. If google sees a 1000 sites linking to yours all hosted from the same place in Texas they will know something is up. Also make sure to use different domain providers with different contact information spread out over all your domains. Some will say if you really want to be safe also whois block your info but I never see the point to this as google can still see blocked info if they want to. Also you would not believe how many people go to the trouble to be secretive and still do this... Do NOT verify your sites with google webmaster tools under the same account!! Sounds stupid but I hear of people doing it out of stupidity all the time. |

The best way to do this is to make sure the domains are hosted on different hosting accounts and they are registered under different names. Also watch out for the Adsense footprint. As far as SEO Hosting is concerned, I think Google knows which IP addresses belong to which hosting accounts and this can create footprints as well. |
