Does my home page need to have the index.html to get indexed? Currently, I have www.mysite.com/index.html redirecting to just www.mysite.com. Is this ok for SEO?

Yes it is ok. In fact having either, or both, will not stop you getting indexed by Google - but, it may spread the link juice coming from backlinks. For an in depth discussion of the issues raised by your question, take a look at the following Google video: http: //w ww . youtube . com/watch?v=6hSoXutuj0g&feature=related (Remove the blanks from the URL) |

No index.html is not required. Php based sites have index.php. ASP based sites have index.aspx. Some server do not use index.html but default.html. And Google does not care about this at all.

Every site has an index page. Whatever your server settings, that's the default. So of course you have an index.htm, index.php, index.asp, whatever you call it and use. You can forward to whatever page you wish if that's your thing. But the index page still exists. If not, then all you have is basically a parked domain. BTW, the warriorforum is warriorforum.com/index.php, but you do not have to type it, as is virtually every case. Paul |
