I have noticed my search engine rankings increase after getting a lot of plus ones for my web pages. Traffic, conversions and revenue all on the rise. I am loving plus ones!

Personally I think that it won't help just yet. Google needs to better understand how users are sharing and engaging with information before implementing Google + into their algorithm. Once Google understands how the users are engaging with shares and links, I believe that you'll start to see Google + influence SERPs.

I also think they'll look at things like an overall influence score with a Google + share. That way you don't have spammers simply creating thousands of accounts that are simply throw away accounts created to pump and dump rankings. You'll most likely see an influencer ratio, much like Klout/PageRank score in the background influencing the quality of that share and its overall influence on SERP rankings.

Google+ is still not open to public and still being tested by select few (by invite only), so nothing can be said about the effect of the +1 button. Once Google+ goes public, the +1 content would be shown in your Google+ stream (just like tweets in twitter) giving you benefit of social networking.

There could be a number of other factors that caused this, you can't just automatically assume that it was the +1's. Extensive testing and variable isolation would need to be done to make a bold conclusion like this, which is virtually impossible with SEO...

I have to agree here. This is only one of the many social factors that Google appears to be using when determining SERPs. I'm sure there are many others.

It's not that it will influence SEO, but more SERPS. The term being coined by many now is SOCIAL SEO, which looks at all the social factors that are apparently contributing towards ranking, not just +1s.

If it's about improving user experience, it will be more important as Google+ starts maturing. Guaranteed!

Ugh! Too much speculation and unsubstantiated claims! The +1 button is easily gamed and Google knows it.

There are a lot of different opinions about the Google +1 button. The only way to see if it works is to test it. So i did.
I have tested the Plus Ones on almost all of my websites. The best results I obtained were on a games site, which I promoted daily for several weeks. I gave it 5 - 10 Pluses a day and I have to say that i was very surprised when I looked at my Webmasters Tools (Crawl Stats section) and Google Analytics (Organic Searches section).
After 2 - 3 days Google started crawling my website a lot more and the organic traffic started to increase along with the number of keywords used for searches.

I think the Google +1 button makes your website relevant when searching in similar key words.

For instance, on just one of my blog posts I noticed that this page was receiving more Google traffic than my entire blog. Then I noticed that when I type in the key words to my blog post that it shows up on the 1st page of Google (only for me and others that Google +1 the post).

This single post has more +1's than my entire blog and generates more traffic than all other posts combined.

Therefore based on this speculation, I do believe that Google +1's had at least something to do with search results

Supposedly it is supposed to help with determining relevance but there are already people out there selling mass Plus 1's. I think Google is going to have to overcome that hurdle to make sure only the most relevant sites get pushed to the top of the rankings.

+1 is intended to encourage webmasters and site owners to create more user friendly sites as opposed to finding a way to thwart the search engine algorithms, which would be good news for all, both visitors and other web admins; who would cease trying to find other techniques to defeat opposition they feel have an unfair advantage

Remember that the whole point of Google is to provide quality contents and user friendly sites to their users and it's assumed that people will only +1 and recommend your site when they enjoyed the content on your site so are you seeing what the 2 have in common. Maybe, Google is finally bringing in something that will stand a fighting chance with link building.

And yea, they said it's a social network for social stuffs but don't forget that after the panda update that Google now give a lot of value to sites found on facebook fanpage profiles even though they are nofollow but 5 fanpage profiles will have your competitors in fear and ning sites are now used for smashing rankings on Google and don't forget what all of them have in common "social".

I bet they have a game plan but I'm not saying this as Matt Cutts, just talking from experience and right now, I'm testing Google +1 in mass, I will drop my experience on that too.

Is Google +1 button useful in SEO? Well the answer may lie in the google webmasters tool, recently i have logged in to my Google Webmasters tool account and i have seen there a new link that says Google +1 metrics, this means GOogle is also measuring the +1's in your website. So i believe +1 has an effect with your rankings and SEO.

It always affects the Google results. The more the +1 button clicked in your web site the site will get more trust on Google Page Rank and the in the SERP results. Hence some of the web sites already had a plan to purchase these likes coming from different users profile....

Google+ is just like a recommend button. why you give plus to any page that's mean you are like it and you are recommending it to your friends.

Content recommended by friends and acquaintances is often more relevant than content from strangers. For example, a movie review from an expert is useful, but a movie review from a friend who shares your tastes can be even better. Because of this, +1’s from friends and contacts can be a useful signal to Google when determining the relevance of your page to a user’s query.

Doesn't that mean that it only applies to your own circle of friends! Each circle of friends will tend to have different tastes. A group of high school age friends aren't going to find things relevant that I'm sure my circle of friends will. It's all about the circles.

Confirmed by whom? Do you have a source you can cite?

As far as I can see there is no change in rankings. All my #1 positions are still #1 without any +1 and I'm not seeing sites with mass +1s moving up in the SERP.

If there is any effect it must be only to your personalized search results, no one else is seeing it.

I think it social factors like +1 will influence the rankings.
I would avoid paid +1 for a while (fiverr, etc), that is a good way to thrash your rankings.
