Default Wow, anyone else have a REALLY slow Adsense weekend?

My goodness, June started off really well for me in Adsense, above average days, but this weekend has been really slow. Today so far, earnings have been about 1/7 of the average. Less traffic and lower CPC (though I'm definitely not smart-priced, since some of my clicks are nice and high).

I can say that here in Ontario, the weather is gorgeous. How're things looking for you U.S. folks? Maybe everyone's out enjoying the sunshine. If anything most of my sites have risen in the SERPs, so it's not that.

Here's hoping to a better week! Anyone else getting slow, slow earnings today?

Cheers!

Friday $184
Sat $148

Usually break $200 a day so I guess it's a bit slow, but not too unusual

Wow, $200/day; nice! Mind if I ask how many sites/pages of content you're running to achieve that? You're right - a bit slow for you but nothing ridiculous.

BenFromSoMo, glad to hear I'm not the only one. I'm not doing close to the sort of revenue as Jeremy, so maybe it's more of a shocker for me. Hopefully things pick up again in the week.

Best Regards

Had my worse day in a long time yesterday about 1/3 of my daily average

CPC has dropped like 1/3 lately too...not sure whats up.

Traffic still the same though...

we'll just have to wait it out and see what happens...been here before, it'll fix itself hopefully.

Damn, I really am not the only one. Wonder what's going on? The search volume for my site's main keywords don't really change...hopefully it's just a case of people being out to enjoy a sunny summer weekend.

With my particular niches, earnings actually jumped the day after Memorial Day. If your niche isn't a summer-friendly niche, then it's just the beginning of the off-season for you.

Hmm. I never considered my sub-niches to be "seasonal". I started in December, and have seen earnings rise steadily every month (after getting to the point of breaking the Adsense payment threshold). My niche, in the most general sense, is health/disease and detection/treatment/prevention. Something that, I assume, never "goes out of style" just because it's summer. (Eg, it's not like I'm targeting season-specific products like "men's winter boots" or "yellow autumn jackets".) What do you think?

The important thing to consider is whether your advertisers themselves are seasonal. Health/disease niches probably get lots of flu advertisers, for example, who will probably rank up their spending during the winter/fall and ramp down during the summer.

Memorial day and the beginning of June is essentially the hard line "beginning of summer" for advertisers, and they have entirely different campaigns and spending limits based on the season.

The month started off with a bang, and I mean BANG! Then...Bust!
Yesterday, was my lousiest day in probably 3 months.

Today, I guess I can say it picked up, but then, after rock bottom
yesterday, anything is up!

This has been the weirdest 5 days on adsense for me ever.

Same here, last couple of days earnings sucked. Today bounced back pretty good, still my average for the week is lower.

Traffic numbers has been very consitant as always, so I'm not sure what happend? Has to be on Adsense end because I havn't changed a single thing in 2 weeks on any of my sites, I've been working on a new project.

Good point. Though, as I glance through the ads being served up on my sites, they look very much like the same ones found during winter and spring. Though, in fact, one of my health site is serving a few summer-specific weight loss ads which fit in well with that site's general theme.

Boy, if this is truly what the summer season is like for these niches, I'll have to ramp up and make some more sites. I've known that I need to build the SERPs-strength of my inner pages for some time, now. Probably a good time to start - and we'll see how the coming week goes; I've had lulls like this before. Back in April, the first couple of days were horrid for earnings; I'm talking like $1.50 for the whole day, then - BAM! - right back up.

Any more thoughts?

Cheers

I did see that, yes, in my normal ad units (skyscraper, footer leaderboard, etc.) - though my link units still say "Ads by Google". I can't imagine having "AdChoices" or whatever it says suddenly make the CPC drop that much, though. For me it seems mostly that it's CPC related (though today's traffic has been about half of what it should be, but I blame the weather ).

Anyone think that "AdChoices" has a negative impact?

It's normal for June. People just went through some rough winters - the kids just got out of school for the summer. Folks are outside enjoying the weather. I've never seen a year where there wasn't some slowdown during summer months.

I haven't seen a dip in my adsense yet - but wouldn't surprise me as it seems to happen every summer for a couple months.

Well, the day started poorly; but it's not ever yet and levels are approaching normal-ish. CPC average is still somewhat down but traffic and CTR have made it fairly respectable.

The more I read the more I'm inclined to agree that some niches may take a bit of a hit - albeit temporarily - at the start of summer. I expect this doesn't last too long. It's just a bit of a shocker if you've never experienced it before. Good luck everyone - hopefully things'll get rolling nicely again soon.

Having a great day today! (best day all month) I did change a setting yesterday which may have helped my CPC today, but I'm gettiing more clicks today as well so it could just be a click dump.

The setting I changed was that I kept interested based ads unticked but ticked the 3rd party box.

Who knows lol...

Good on you! Yesterday finished decently for me. Today looks pretty good to start. I've decided (let's see if I can manage, lol) to not check my stats so often. It'll probably spare me some stress to only look at the start, maybe the middle, and the end of the day.

I (sorry if I already said this somewhere in this thread) turned interest based ads off some time ago. I heard somewhere that they might have a higher CPC, but lower CTR, and my sites are rather niche-specific. I'd rather have relevant text-ads showing than a graphic ad for the last type of kitchen blender someone was looking at, or whatever.

Interesting. I use skyscraper sized text ads, but not image ads. I find that a big image takes something away from the legitimacy of my sites - but perhaps that's just my perception. They're heavily informational and cover a number of health-related topics, so I feel text ads are more "low-key" (though, clearly, aren't being ignored by interested visitors) than images - but hey, if it's working for you, go for it!

Best Regards

OMG!!! I thought it just me. Horrible earnings is an understatement. For the last 2 years I've averaged about 1000/month. At this rate (as of this month) I'll be lucky to break 250...

It sounds interesting; but what about for sites that are heavily based on informational content which isn't about products? For example, my sites are about health conditions; I don't write about products. Would I have to branch into product related sites for this to work?

I had a good day yesterday, then today adsense earnings went back down. My ctr is really low today, as well as my cpc. Maybe it's just one of those days but overall i've had better months than this. I guess it's one of those summer things.

Has anyone added google's +1 feature yet? I noticed that google is heavily promoting this +1 feature cause i see it in my adsense account, asking me to add it to my sites.

Do you see this request in your adsense account as well? and did you click on "dismiss" or "i've done this"?

June 1 was a great day with Adsense and from June 1 - June 6 it looked like to would be the best month ever. Then it has been a rollercoaster ever since with June 16 and 17 as the worst days I have ever seen.

Traffic is the same. That is how I know something is wrong and it is not the "seasonal" issue.

Something is going on with Adsense. I have read that many other people have the same issues with the low earnings on the "same dates". This can only be something with Adsense.

I really am not sure what is going on.

Thousands of PLR Articles for $2.00.

Hi, yes, we have added it. Although we are not sure about how well or bad that impact on the website yet. I think it is too early to get some conclusions but at a glance I assume that will be positive to make use of Google+1 button in your page (at least compared with other buttons like FB or Twitter)

For Twitter, it is said that new algorithm of Google will not count tweets but will count RT for a given site for their organic results. I am not sure indeed.
