Hello all, Created my first Facebook ad, promoting a Clickbank product. Around 42,000 impressions so far with a 0.015% CTR. No buys yet. Few questions: 1) I'm paying around $0.50 per click. Is this too much? Thanks! |

Well it varies, are you driving traffic straight to the clickbank sales page,or a presell page with an opt-in form/ free gift??

I'm driving it straight to the link that Clickbank provided me when I clicked on the "Promote" button.

Not sure what an ideal CTR percentage is on Facebook... Even my good ads on there don't convert anything like yahoo/bing/google. 18 clicks isn't even close to enough to judge anything by. And yes, I would test different things to see if you can make the CTR go up up up. Try different headlines, offers... all of it. You can only test one change at a time though. It sounds like you don't want to spend much on the testing part... which is fine... but at $0.50 per click, things are going to add up fast before you get to any significant numbers to go on. I know this doesn't sound sexy or fast, but have you thought about writing some articles and getting organic traffic? Checking out and contributing to message boards in the subject you are trying to sell? You won't see fast cash, but it's free and you can test things for free. | |

Every couple of days try to change it up..... picture, copy, etc. When you find out, let me know. The couple of times I tried a Facebook ad, I had no success. Could have been the product.

Something that is often overlooked is that people are NOT on facebook to buy! They are there to share and engage.. The most effective way to do it would be to create a facebook page, use advertising to gather 'likes' on the facebook page.. it's much easier for facebook users to do as a natural action and there is no sales pitch at the time.. Once they have 'Liked' your page, you now will have your posts feeding into their stream... On the page include an FBML opt in box as default instead of the wall to collect info for follow up sales emails, and also use a lot of follow up and sales wall posts from the page, these will lead to the users stream and the repetition will generate familiarity with the brand and ultimately sales.. If you are advertising the product directly you aren't going to get any sales, like I said before, people are coming to facebook and engaging interactions with people, not there to make purchases, though if you funnel them through a facebook page where you can continue to engage and follow up with them you can plant that seed that may in the future generate a sale. |

My first thought bro is to work on your click through rate for sure. Your wasting a ton of money o ads that are not getting the proper clicks. Lower your cost per click by like half until you feel your getting a amount of impressions while your testing your campaign and gradually move your cost up. Fb will blast you with impression before know it so really monitor your ads and spend. Another thing is you ctr plays a big role in your ad cost as well so if you can improve your ctr then you eventually improve your spend. I hope that helps out a little. |

The interruption ads on facebook call for more of a soft sell approach compared to google search ads. Direct linking might not be the way to go. By the way, ads that link to a facebook page get lower click costs than off site links. I've seen more than once the suggestion that you should give up on testing a campaign when your costs reach twice the comission value without a sale. |

In general unless you have a very low cost of making a product and a high mark up, your probably going to pay to much CTR. Facebook is a great advertising site, but if you've spent $9 dollars and no conversions yet, this may not be the avenue you want to take. $.50 per click is high at that rate your would expect to have more conversions. Someone else suggested this, organic traffic is the way to go.

Why not try setting up a Facebook page with details of the offer and what it can do for them. People need to know why they should buy it. Then use that to drive traffic to and see what happens.

A few things... Try to keep your CTR above 0.5, this will help to get cheaper clicks. How many keywords or "Likes And Internet" are you targeting? The more you target, the more you pay. Whats your budget? You should have enough funds to drive AT LEAST 100 hits to your offer. If it doesn't convert after 100, maybe reconsider that offer. You should create like 10-20 ads, each only targeting one or two keywords MAX. |

If you're not generating a CTR above .035, it's time to test another ad. That's the magic number I've found. If you can hover above that, your CPC will be exceptionally lower. Always test multiple images, as that's about 70% of your pulling appeal for the ad. You'll find little luck driving traffic directly to a Clickbank offer. You can make sales but it's not going to happen often. Get a custom landing page designed for a fan page and start to build an email list and get "likes." A targeted email list is FAR superior to just likes as well. Create a free report that you can give away and make your market an offer they cannot refuse. Test, test, test!! First, test a few different ad images using all age ranges, all genders. Let it run for a day or 2. Using your best ad, test by gender and age. Do a separate campaign for males and females... ~5 yr age intervals. I know this sounds like a lot of work but you'd be surprised how one age/gender will convert MUCH better than the rest... then just focus your budget on that demographic and watch your sales grow : ) |
