Default Can Anyone Give Me Some Tips on a 301 Redirect?

I have one page on a site that was once ranking #2 for a pretty competitive keyword, but the page is now de-indexed. Note, just the PAGE is de-indexed, not the entire site. It is doing just fine

I want to 301 redirect from the deindexed page to a new page, but I am not quite sure what to do after that. What code do I need so the search engines will find it? What do I do with the old page? And should I continue to backlink to the old page, or the new one?

A 301 can be added through your host or in the ht.access file.
Here is a good link:301 Redirect - How to create Redirects

If the page is de-indexed, I would not recommend pointing it toward the page you want to rank. Any idea why it was de-indexed.

If you do, point new links to the new page. Some (exact amount unknown) link juice is lost through a 301.

i have a deindexed page redirecting to my current page. funny thing is that my current page is having probs ranking highly. do you think they could be related? i get a lot of traffic from the backlinks for my de-indexed site

Just starting off my attempt at internet marketing. First venture is a teeth whitening site that I'm trying to monetize. Always appreciate feedback.

Hi,

301 is a permanent redirect. I use htaccess files to redirect my urls. It is really helpful when you have changed the URL, instead of deleting the URL you can easily redirect the to new URL address.

OK, so I did the redirect, and started building some links to the new page. After one day, it is now indexed, It is on page 35

BUT, I also noticed that the OLD page has been reindexed, though I cannot find it in the listings (I stopped looking around page 45)

What the heck should I do? Just give up on the redirect now that the old page was reindexed? Or keep the new page out of fear the old one will get knocked down again
