Site got indexed within 24 hours - Page 2 Ranking - Now what?

I created a landing page yesterday and to my surprise, it got indexed within 24 hours and now sitting on page 2 for a specific local search keyword, so its something like "keyword location". But i am actually trying to target without the "location" in the keyword.

So whats next? What can I do to move it up to page 1?
I have read that submitting articles, creating backlinking etc, should get the job done, but which approach should i go with first?

Well done for getting indexed so fast - that's a good start!

I find that building backlinks by writing unique content (you can spin it too) and submitting it to 'dofollow' article directories is a good way to build backlinks.

Just write some articles that are related to your site and keyword and with your "keyword" as anchor text linking back to your site. Only use your "keyword" as the anchor text for 80-90% of the backlinks, vary it with the others to make the backlinks look more natural.

You can also book your site on Jumptags.com (and lots of other bookmarking sites).

If you're good at writing then try some press releases too and you could ask the owners of blogs in your niche if they will let you do a guest post with a link to your site.

Done consistently, this should make your site rise up the SERPs for your "keyword".

With little backlink creation with social bookmarks you can easily move to page1 as it is low competition keyword.write one or two unique articles too to redirect traffic.

Local SEO is must easy to rank. I'd suggest you to write more unique article, on-page seo (google search how-to), build backlinks and rank it on the first page first.

If you wanna rank your keyword without location, then you need to continue writing articles and do backlinks.

Now submit to Social bookmarking sites and create a RSS feed. After that submit RSS feed for RSS directories. After 1-2 weeks make a link wheel with web 2.0 sites and give a big blog commenting blast to this link wheel.
