Could be interesting, especially if you make multiple websites. But what is not to stop me from doing rel="Matt Cutts"

Just a way to look up authors from what I read of it. Won't have much impact at this stage on ranking unless you are targeting a name

Or hijack a popular blog, so your page shows up in the SERPs when someone does a search for someone with a high traffic blog.
