Google has always stated not to worry about PR, but to keep building unique content, and getting backlinks and the PR will follow

Thanks for posting this thread. I was trying to understand why a website that I created a year ago, which I've regularly update and has lots of unique content, is still at Page Rank 0 or N/A.

To everyone who says, "Why worry about Page Rank?" Because guest blogging is a great way of increasing both your site's SEO and visitors. I currently participate in a guest blogging group and there is no quick way to distinguish between a site like mine and a site someone threw together a month ago.

I've had several people who are looking for blogs to guest blog on, or people just offering me business advice, who say, "Gosh, Anne, you really need to do some SEO. Your site doesn't rank with Google at all!" And how have they determined this? Because they looked at the site's Page Rank.

So that is why Page Rank DOES matter and why I too am frustrated with a lack of Page Rank updates.

No matter about the Page rank, Google update page rank one's site every three months, Sites popularity is become through the traffic. my point is to promote your site for traffic and not for rank. that is my point of view any comments will be welcome.

Two different issues entirely. Okay guys lets get some things straight

Beck's page is no a PR 0. Google pagerank is updated EVERY DAY internally. Glen's site is about Pr5 or P6 (yes there are inexact ways of calculating REAL PR). The public toolbar updates are not important but the PR that Google sees internally is.

As for when last the pages were updated externally many people saw changes in late April. Lastly please throw away and bury the total nonsense that PR is of no value for SEO. Thats TOTALLY ridiculous. Pagerank is a great indicator of the strength of links coming in to a page. Now of course if you are not targeting those links with proper anchor text then you will not see the serp rise BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT TARGETING THOSE KEYWORDS.

with the same anchor text and on page factors If you line up 30 PR 2,3,4 links against 40 PR N/A links it is like a Human being stepping on an ant. The high PR links if followed will smoke even 100 ordinary real PR N/A pages. No contest. So PR DOES matter. It matters in linkbuilding ad having a high PR page yourself is an indication that your are getting good links.

As for those that say just build great content and it will come may I ask if you write the great american novel and then leave it in your open car will the publishers open your door grab it out of your car and publish it?
