Default Promoting local sites in the SERP

I just looked at a promotiion for a program selling their program to build local sites and rent them out. The information got me thinking about how local sites are promoted. I assume that it is the same as a natiion/international site but with the location tacked on to the end of the keyword, either city or city and state?

Is this about all there is different, or is there anything more that needs to be done?

The program is touting the fact that you would/ he builds one page web sites. Right here this turned me off as from what I read, Google is not real happy with the one page wonder sites any more, and I see this as a short term philosophy. Or is it different with local sites?

I have seen programs like this offered before and I have never been very interested in them as I see them as just putting yourself to work as a sales man, selling these items to local merchants, similar to the offline marketing that has been pretty poplar. Am I missing anything? Any other thoughts you might like to share would be welcome.

No doubt you would want more than a single page.

I think local SERP results do better with a lot of details, like embed a Google map of the business location, the business address, town name, zip, phone number. Also the surrounding area town names & zip codes.

The way I would handle selling local pages, is the hghest bidder gets the entire index page of the site, everyone else gets an internal page.

Build every single backlink to the Index page, possible NOINDEX (hey I found a reason to NOINDEX, lol ) the internal pages.

You could set this up pretty easy with Wordpress (almost any theme). Set the index page to display a single post.

Whoever the high bidder is for the local keyword, change their internal page DATE to be the newest date. Then, anytime you have a new high bidder simply change their Wordpress blog post date to be todays date, that will update the Index page with the high bidders business details.

You would want the entire site to be a single niche like "Chicago Plumber".

Maybe hard code a keyword rich article into the Index page for seo.

Mostly for local sites the promotion using google places and local listings are heavily utilized.More importantly they gives best results too.All need is to optimize the listing with images and videos to make it appealing and redirect visitors.
