Ever since June 7th my traffic on my niche blogs 50-200 pages of unique content each continue to plummet in traffic each day... ![]() Below is the stats of my 2 main sites combined: (a total of 300 articles - these sites have been improving every month without fail until recently) ![]() While my couple of thin affiliate sites have actually done the opposite from that date and risen!! Just wondering if the same thing has happened to you? I feel so lost, confused and upset. I know we need to give it more time, but I cant stop thinking about all the hardwork Ive done in the past 1.5years and to see each month grow, then to have this happen...its heart breaking....heck its dream shattering. I've never experienced this as Ive never really had a site rely on SEO before... How confident are you of Google fixing all this? |

Hey mate, what sort of off-page SEO have you been doing for these blog sites or are they PPC?

| Only submit unique articles to article directories from now on. Since the google panda update, google is penalizing sites for duplicate content.

Hey Ernie, I hope things get better. Keep on pushing, building links and adding content and the sites will re-cover. This is just a speed bump on your way to success, looking back stuff like this has happened a few times to me. Look at this DOOZY I was handed by google ![]() I was getting OVER 1000 visitors a day right out of the gates on a new site. I was estatic! Then all of a sudden BAM 100 visit a day. I didn't give up on the site (ok I did for a month, then pulled my head out of my ass) and now the site is getting about 300-500 visits per day, not 1000 but I am building the site, making money (about $20 per day) and confident that the rankings will last this time. If you have a site with quality content (like this one is) try to build other traffic sources like facebook, youtube, forums, other blogs etc. |

Search engine traffic on my money site is down 20-25%, even though my rankings mostly haven't changed. Not sure yet just what is causing this.

I don't know what they did but my best site bottomed out in the past two days. Tonight I did a personal search on gardening stuff and found the first three pages of results was almost all warez and torrent stuff. Grrrr. Somebody screwed something up again.

My good quality sites spiked briefly but have been dropping like dominoes since then. Now two of my autoblog/scraped sites have shot up the serps and a third is quickly growing. Something is seriously wrong with this picture. |

Yeah I have a site with 3 or 4 pages at most and on the front page is plastered with amazon affiliate links and the same day my content rich sites plummeted, this particular thin affiliate site shot right up! Id like to think Google is setting their algo to get the bad sites to rise temporarily to easily distinguish them, before zapping them and allowing the good sites to rise back up again. Well lets hope so anyway... |

Phew.... I'm not alone. I'm seeing the same sort of results. The sites with less than 10 pages are fine. The two sites I have with many pages completely went down the drain from June 7-8. Seems like very tightly focused 15-ish page sites are the way to go forward. (At least until Google sorts out this Panda shuffle) |

This is really disheartening for everyone no doubt. Unfortunately as we all know, SEO is one of the few fields in marketing where we are entirely at the mercy of a single company, and one in which we are not customers of that company. Therefore any optimizations we do cannot be guaranteed to bring results. Despite this, SEO is still, and will be for many decades I believe, the most effective marketing strategy. All we can do is adjust and do our best. |

Hey Earnie, I hope things will go good for you soon. In fact, since the main panda update, Google has been doing multiple weekly updates for last few weeks. I've been hearing dead sites suddenly popping up to the front page, sites coming out of sandbox all of a sudden and even scrapper sites rank higher than the sites with original content. Some of the SERP results change on hourly basis. I would suggest you to keep cool and wait till the dust is settled. Truly no one knows how long this would last, but hopefully your site will be back ( since you have original content) once the whole stuff is a bit stabilized. |

Stop depending on Google for 95% of your traffic. Keep pushing to get the Google traffic, but at the same time diversify & find new sources (niche forums, etc...). I try to never let Google be more than 50% (max) of my traffic. It's easier to deal with If you lost 50% rather than 95% of your traffic. |

Let's just chill a little, it is unnerving but there is a good chance this is temporary, whatever 'it' is. Must admit, there does seem to be weird stuff going on, sites/pages bouncing around like crazy, from page one, to the sinbin, to some position they were at a month ago, and no backlinking done recently. NOT the usual Google Dance behaviour. Just hope this is not some new approacch to site ranking by Google - rotating sites randomly around in the serps!

| What makes you think it's broken? Is your site content more suited to the user's request than the others on the front page? As yukon said above, get your content in front of your market's eyes and make Google take notice. |

Good old Google doing what is usual: screwing up folks working his butt off, and promoting ****ty websites. Usual. One example: BIG sites promoting airplane tickets. These guys do nothing beside Bluefart methods to achieve rankings. Repeating dozens of keywords at bottom of websites? Check. Insane amount of footer links promoting deeplinks? Check. Scripts to "create" new content - when in fact it's just a copy of an old page, with a new URL? Check. Yet, they get indexed, they get high rankings, they make the $$$$$$$$. Google is THE ONLY GUILTY. |

Only 100 to 120 visitors per day. My Earning also fall from $25 to $6 a day. Huge disappointment. I don't know how to overcome. Abhijit............ |

| For what it's worth, I second that Ernie. You've got the content. I'd do some squidoo and definitely some targeted forum use, sigs included of course. Maybe even a little free email, twitter, facebook, etc. All is fair in love, war, and getting traffic to your site. I'd even do yahoo answers, wikipedia, etc. Hate to see that happen to you. You're a decent warrior. No doubt you should be able to get back up with a little extra work. But if you don't, the footprint you build should more than make up for it. Thing is, I don't even check analytics anymore on a regular basis. I look at the bottom line. The bottom line drops, I do more bloggin, squidoo, wiki-spamming, email (yes I do it, it works, and flies under the radar) You're fighting for your livelihood. Go at it with both barrels. If you concentrate heavily on targeted traffic, the google thing will either fix itself or be a non issue. Paul |

As others have said, give it some time, but also try to get off the Google addiction. That's what my plan is. I've had sites tank recently too (one a very legitimate authority site that's been at the top for the last five or six years). Although it's somewhat disheartening, I knew long before this that I needed to try to get away from Google long-term. So I have slowly been making steps in that direction. I know that if I'm ever going have any peace of mind, I need to stop relying on Google or any other one site for the bulk or my traffic. I still have plans to use Google, but those plans are relatively short-term. Take a little bit of time and start thinking about how you might set up a long term strategy that will leave you less vulnerable. Once you convince yourself that you're going to have to do that, you will feel better about it all. You know what they say about addiction -- you have to want to change in order to change. ... If I were you, I would start looking in the direction of changing and keep coming back to the idea until it finally clicks for you. At that point you'll want to change because you'll know you need to. |

You have some good ideas, which Ill have to get started with. Its been a tough couple of months thats for sure. First Google hits the article directories which was a decent part of my alternative google traffic, and now Google hits my site. Oh well.....,I still have my content, that's something that will always be mine! PS: Woah! I just got 1 adsense click right now for $7.80...nice way to start the morning.

I wouldn't panic as I don't think four days is enough to draw conclusions. I wondered last week if there was a glitch at google - not that we'd ever learn about it. ![]() I did research in two totally unrelated niches. These are niches I've researched several times before so I know what type of sites to expect. For both niches the first two pages of results were filled with crap. Sites that were "site not found" errors on the first page. Thin, junk sites - sites about products that were discontinued 2 years ago. I found outdated articles from 2006 on the first page! In fact, most info was old in those searches. I know there are authority sites in those niches - but they were not ranking high last week. It wasn't normal but I wouldn't know that had I not done those same niche searches in previous months. The results were skewed last week. Wasn't this the same time that Google implemented the second sweep of it's recent update? kay |

I don't think it is because of "H tags", one of my pages that was hit had an H1 and an H2 tag, and the other had an H1,H2 and an H3 tag. All the other pages that were not hit have H1 and H2 tags. I can't find any clear differences when comparing the pages that were hit and the ones that were not. It is a mystery to me! I think G mess'd something up big time, and they are probably scrambling all over the place trying to fix it. Give it a couple weeks... let's see if this "mishap" is corrected.

Hello, I think your blog must be affected by Google panda update regarding content farming. So I suggest everyone to use fresh and unique content on blogs and websites. |

Google is just dicking around to weed out low quality sites. Original content by itself won't keep your rankings high. But stopping quality backlinks back to them will most certainly keep your ranking down. I'd like to think it's Google's way of seeing who's really serious about their site. I had a site that dropped from #2 to #50 then disappeared completely in a few days after ranking that high for many months. I tried everything I knew but nothing changed FOR A FEW MONTHS. Just when I decided to call it quits for that site, it came back up to #2. Takeaway: Google's a di.. Man up. Keep fighting. |

Hi Ernie What is your bounce rate truly like, out of interest, mine is quite high for most of my pages to be honest, I might think of improbing the navigation on a site to see whether that helps, just trying a few ideas to make the sites offer more value to readers I hope this is all a blip, but for me, with a lot of sites, a single tweak on one site my show why all sites seem affected. Good luck |

The rankings and traffic for 2 of my content based sites dropped in mid may, even though i recovered some of them. But surprisingly one of my cpa based site (that is mid white hat & gray hat) has hit no 2 for main keyword and getting around 300 visits a day with it. This is really weird, i get that post panda Google slapped all content farms but for what? crappy sites with content blocker and blog comment spam links? It is a good time right now to stop depending on Google for all your traffic, heck stop depending on Google for all your SEO. I am starting to take bing and yahoo seriously. I also watched a video that showed 90% of Google adword income comes from 10% of its advertisers & vice versa in adsense. Is Google giving the boot to us low and smaller webmasters? |

Ernie, could you please tell us what exactly is your site position for your targeted keywords? Just do this query: inanchore:your_keyword replace your_keyword with your real keyword, and see how reasonable is the ranking. If your site's position still is not resonable, then it might be due to the fact that your backlinks text has been changed or deleted by webmasters. |

any updates from the losers in this Panda fiasco. My big sites are pretty much sunk ,apart from the main target KW on a couple. Some are regaining a few places, but it's pretty dire. If Panda is supposed to target unique useful content from webmasters trying to do the right thing, they have got it about right. The sites now on page 1 are thin mfa sites or garbage ecommerce ones with nil content at all. That is my experience to date. |
