It's really tough, I recall hearing one tip, contribute to non english pages, they tend to not be so heavily moderated. Aren't they no follow anyway?

Well, the correct way would be to truly contribute by adding useful information and if your site is truly relevant to the topic and offers more information about the topic, then add a link to it as well. Of course, thats easier said than done. WP moderators are very good at what they do. |

This should be posted in the Adsense/PPC/SEO section not in the main forum. You'll get more answers there. Do a search on the WF to find threads that have been started on this as well and you may find some relevant information. For example, I found this one: Getting backlinks from Wikipedia |

Have you tried putting your link in the External links section instead of the resources section.

If you can get it to stick it'll bring in a lot of traffic. Haven't messed with it in probably 5 years now since its so hard to make it stick.

Getting a Wiki link is indeed hard, its best if you've built a credible account on Wikipedia. Then be sure that the page that you are linking from and too is relevant, and as others have mentioned you'll want to add it under external. Good luck!

I have lots of links from Wikipedia. I put none of them there; they were added because of the value of information on my site (hint!)

If your website is not too commercial but more informative related to the wiki, external link will stay. I've add mine this morning and still there so far, hope it stays. My site is not a Made for adsense or ecommerce site but real info site. I also have this in my title: -------- information center. Could help specially if it's quality, accurate content useful for people visiting it. Now I don't say that I'm happy because it's too early I'll see in a week if still there, then post again for confirmation. Also, it's nofollow so won't benefits for ranking but great to see there as an authority site and for traffic, also if some people likes they will add link on their website and this is the positive thing. |

It's tough with Wikipedia as it's editable to the public and as other people noted, there are restrictions for any resource links used. I would start by earning your trust with a credible wikipedia account and doing some legit editing/additions. Good luck with it |

Is your grammar and writing the issue? No offense but the posts in this thread are very poorly written and difficult to read. Maybe it is as simple as poor grammar.

I have lots of links on Wikipedia. Some I added, but mostly other people add them because they need to source information. My site provides information that isn't found anywhere else on the web. Their backlinks are nofollow and only bring me about 12 hits per day (per link). Rant: Funny how my content/links is good enough for Wiki, magazines, news article, yahoo answers and many other places/sites, yet my site was hit by Google Panda hard. Thankfully my crappy autoblogs continue to keep going strong in Google.com... |

From what I know, you submit/contribute articles first to Wikipedia. After which, it will now direct to you as a legitimate source.

Way to success...

I got my link on Wikipedia since months now and never got removed or edited because it is an authority info site with no ads or commercial purposes. To be honest I don't get much traffic from it and did not gain in rank. Does it Worth having a link there? Yes, it gives your site some credibility. |

Kept having Wiki links removed as well, and decided that I am better off without, since they are no follow. It sounds like they are not heavy traffic drivers anyways, correct?

Same here. Notice a lot of my traffic on one site coming from WikiPedia. Was surprised to see them in 5 or 6 different areas.

An update for my backlink in wikipedia. Have been removed after 1 month, now I don't know if it's a jealous competitor who edit to delete or the admin of wikipedia, anyway no big deal because did not do good or bad to my site ranking, so people, just ignore wikipedia for SEO. |

getting links on wikipedia is easy once you know how. I have many links on there that has stuck there. Just make sure your website is relevant to what article your linking from in wikipedia....cos if you try to link say SEO Article to a affiliate product on how to make money its just going to get deleted.
