Hello Everyone: I am new to having a Windows VPS. I am wondering how I install a program on it. I have the remote desktop open. But when I try to drag and drop the installation programs over to be installed, I am getting the not allowed button. I know this must be really basic, but I am stumbling. CT |

You can't drag and drop programs from your computer to a remote Windows VPS. If you want to install something, you should download the installation files (.exe) to your windows VPS and install them.

Charles, I would suggest you to consider a Windows VPS from a fully managed hosting provider. If you will consider a fully managed VPS everything will be installed by their techs on request.

As Chime mentioned, you cant simply drag and drop from your desktop to the VPS desktop. You'll need to send yourself the files somehow and then install them on your VPS. Dragging & dropping from desktop to VPS won't work. |

Charles, You have a couple of options. First off would be to install Dropbox on your home computer and the VPS. This will allow you to transfer files between them. Second option is to open up a web browser in the VPS and point it at whatever you want to install. Then download and install the program just like anything else you would install. Last option is to zip up what you want to use, email it to yourself, and then open the email on your VPS, providing you are using Yahoo, Gmail, or some other browser based email provider. Let me know if you need any other help with it. I have two VPS's I use all the time. |

Copy (Ctrl-C) the app or installer on your local desktop machine. Switch to your Remote Desktop session and Paste (Ctrl-V). This is a quick and easy method to copy files to and from a RDP session.

Hi there, i recently bought a vps, for first time i should login using VNC, but i couldn't. i talked with support and they said there is no problem on the server, maybe unfortunately my network didn't allow me for port forwarding, so that i cannot use this app. now i am looking if someone can test it for me, to see if can connect trough VNC. thank you. |
