Does google penalize websites that spin articles and submit them to the big article directories? Does an article have to have a certain percentage of uniqueness? What if the tags are all the same? I cannot figure out if I just have poor on-site SEO or I am still in the Google SandBox. I feel like Google does not want you to know how it's practices, so people can not learn to manipulate it aka spammers.

I think your site only get in to sand box if you do excessive number of links a day and no worries about spun articles the only drawback is that spun articles are less in quality and really helpful for the ranking of the site.

By sandbox I mean, do brand new websites have to work their way out of the sandbox? Creating good and quality content and backlinks, multiple years of the listing of the domain, etc.

If they could catch you then they might penalize you, but as of now you're generally pretty safe

I do not think Google penalizes your site, but simple devalues the backlink.

| No, Google does not penalize websites for submitting spin articles. There's no certain percentage of uniqueness, still the recommended rate is over 90%. Tags may be the same.

Article spinning is not discouraged although if you can, try to submit completely unique articles and dont rely on spinning them

If you spin take the time to do it manually, auto spinning produces a lot of unreadable junk.
