I too use identi.ca... It's better than twitter if you want to get your website listed in Google faster.

It is easy to get indexed.. but it is more important to get ranked

Instead of social media, I normally submit the site via google webmaster tools.

get a link from web 2.0 websites like hubpages, xomba etc. you can get indexed within hours.

True, but number of indexed URLs is a factor in ranking.

I've found these 3 to be the best social bookmarking sites:

delicious.com
mister-wong.com
jumptags.com

What I've also found to be better than socail bookmarking to get indexed fast is to get your site setup with Google Webmaster AND Google Analytics.

Digg is a good one.

Also submit your site's RSS feed to Feedage.com.

Create a Facebook page for every site you own.

When you put your links in it, you'll get indexed VERY fast.

I've even had YouTube videos get indexed instantly this way. So quickly that Google indexed only the link and basic info and not even the thumbnail yet.

Whenever I create a new page, I then submit it to Digg, Delicious, Twitter, create a post on Facebook and then send a PM to people to review the page. (That way you get extra traffic to land on that particular page)

how many can you control within your available time?

I think that the best way is to definitely go straight to the source. Making sure that you do Google webmaster is essential. After that, setting up different social networks can only help to draw additional attention to your site and your seo efforts.
