Domain extensions: BIG News, will end myth

Did you hear the big news in domain extensions?
And I mean BIG?

You will soon be able to get any domain extension you can
think of. So long as you have a fat wallet.

For example, apple computers can get the extension .apple

This will throw the biggest monkey wrench into the myth that
a domain extension matters.

Yes, but there are a few caveats. The cost to apply is $185,000, so it will be limited to those with a budget that can support that app fee. There is a relatively short window to register, Jan 12th through April 12th. And applications will have to show a legitimate claim to the name they are buying.

I think it is a big deal to some major brands, however the small guy will not take part.

But can you imagine the money that could be made by
selling domains with the extensions?

I guess we would start a war over "keywords in a domain extension."

Meaning, if we have a bank, we need domain.bank

Opens up a whole new world, that's for sure.

Well, it is for big companies to own their own domain empire.
That money is chump change for apple, google, MS, etc.

It will be interesting to see if anyone just off the street can
get a good domain extension and create their own extension
empire.

If people believe some myths, how hard is it going to be to
beat apple products with apple as the domain extension?

Keywords in the domain extension. The next big thing.

Sure will. I just imagine a crazy guy with deep pockets and 1 legal chance to buy one powerful (keyword) domain name. It will be a hell of a test to see what gives with Google...
