Hello everyone, I wanted to take a quick poll here, and ask for your input. I have keyword phrase .COM domains and each of these phrases gets searched about 500K a more a month in Google according to Googles keyword tool. The only problem is: each keyword phrase has around 20 million competing webpages for these phrases... So far, I dont have a site up for any of these domains. I was wondering, what do you recommend doing with them and how high could I rank for these terms in google since I own the .com version of the exact phrase. And how fast would i rank? |

well thats the case for most keywords that have a lot of searches. The more board you are, the more traffic it has but again, the more competition you'll have as well. You should look into something that is much more targeted. As for what you can do with that domain, I don't know lol. |

if the exact wording of the domain name is getting searched 500k a month then perhaps just look into finding products relating to the keyword on amazon and then set up a review site? there are heaps of things you can do really - you should be able to get to the top of google if you get some high PR backlinks

Do some competition analysis. Take the top 5 websites, how many backlinks do these websites have? use SEO Toolbar for Firefox. Whilst this is flawed as Yahoo! wont show all the links, it's all you have. Take this further and visit the top 10 backlinks linking to the websites in the top 5 positions you want to occupy. Why? Everyone with half a brain is using linkwheels, so you need to check the backlinks to your competitions backlinks to be able to assess if you can compete. Additionally, are the keywords in the URL, Title, Description of the page being ranked? If after all that, you think you can out-do everyone else and provide more value to visitors, then by all means go for it! Good luck

Hi A lot of the answers depend on the keywords. There are many ways to monetize a web site. If the keywords get 500,000+ searches then they are likely not very targeted. Many people may be searching for information, not to buy something. If they are related to a market with a lot of products, then maybe affiliate sales sites or Amazon for physical products. If they aren't very product oriented, say lifestyle or something- maybe adsense or CPA offers. Also what is the plan? To build authority sites and monetize them for your own income? Or build them up and sell them as valuable domains? It's hard to say "I have an exact match domain name, how fast will I rank". It depends on many factors. Using pinging and bookmarking, you can get indexed and ranked pretty quickly. But it is still usually a bit of time before your rank in the SERPs stabilizes. Also, if they are the kind of keywords that people use as part of longer phrases, you may face fierce competition from more targeted sites if it is a competitive niche. Mahlon |

Make sure it's set to "exact" and not "broad" that can change a lot. On the other side I would definitely get going in the market..think of it as a long term project. Throw up some wordpress, couple of outsourced articles and what-not.

Start bringing in some money then sell them on Flippa.com for 6 times the monthly income generated.

If those are exact searches, i'd invest some money and get a website developed with a nice design and quality unique content. Then start to gradually build quality backlinks while adding more unique content. Then when it starts ranking and bringing in some traffic, i'd consider selling it if you can get a good price |

I highly doubt those are exact searches. The numbers are too high.

Where it get tough as when there is an established, aged site that is optimized for your keyword (think title and content). Plus they have thousands of links. Now if the top 10 is full of those sites, move on, because it will be very difficult, time consuming and costly to out rank them.
