Hi Steve, you mentioned about promoting the blog intensely. You only mentioned article marketing in the cash cow. What techniques do you implement? Do you implement social bookmarking? or twitter?

Hey good job anyway...so you didn't make your mark just yet...like you said you'll get there one day. $70 is better than a lot of people could do, right?

Some people claim to have success with churning out trashy autoblogs but I personally believe any success would be shortlived. My opinion, not worth bothering with. For longevity and sustained income you have to think quality, quality, quality. Make something you will be proud to show people and it's a good bet that Google will like it to. If Google like it, they will reward you with good rankings.

Anyone doing this and cashing in?

Google's algorithm doesn't know from quality, all it knows is relevance. Google doesn't go around blessing a site with good rankings because of quality content. Your cruise site is relevant but, sorry, it's not high quality. It's actually kind of mediocre but it's highly keyword relevant like a good Adsense site should be to make money. You've done it very well for Adsense without making it just another keyword stuffed MFA site.

Now if you want a quality authority site in the travel niche, take a look at Concierge.com as an example. 7 Million incoming links, PR8, 519K pages indexed, 11 year old domain. Us mere mortals can't compete with that directly. But, where we can beat them is by having more relevant content for specific buying keyword term along with better optimization for that specific term. It's rare that these authority sites are optimized at that level which gives us an opening.

It's all about opinion and I am not saying that my cruise blog is in any way competition for a site like Concierge.com, I wouldn't dream of even comparing the two. What I will say though is that every article on my blog was either written or hand chosen by myself and I hope has something of value to people searching for relevant information.

This is a massive difference to somebody who throws up a bunch of autoblogs fed by RSS feeds, spun content and other methods that the blog publisher has no idea of what they are publishing. At best I would use autoblogs as a network of feeder sites to funnel traffic to my main sites but I wouldn't dream of making autoblogs the centre of my business.

I am not just saying this, I have tried it and yes they can get past Google's algos but if you read my post you will see I say they just plain don't last in the indexes for whatever reason.. This is where you and me differ and that is just the way it is. My philosophy for building sites is to give Google what they want and what they most certainly don't want is trash filling up their indexes. I know my blog isn't anywhere near perfect and I would never pretend otherwise but I am proud of it and ticks most of the boxes for Google.

To sum up my philosophy on site building, it's about going with the flow...

My philosophy is that I want the ad to be the main answer to what they're searching for. The articles, while passable, are secondary, backup, information.

As for autoblogging, I see it, when it's done right, as an aggregation of relevant material which might include articles, news excerpts/links, videos and, yes, advertisements. If done right it provides a quality experience (See Drudge Report as the ultimate example). You can be the editor to insure that nothing dreadful gets through but you don't need to baby it either. It is done wrong often enough though where it isn't providing value so I understand where you're coming from.

I think you did a very good job on it. The only things I would have changed would be to have cut it down to a single large rectangle Adsense block and maybe done some things differently with internal linking.

Absolutely, it is not the autoblogging process itself, it is the person doing it. At the end of the day you are simply putting relevant information up in front of people looking for it. The lazy approach is to not care what that info is and where it comes from and those type of sites are destined to fail.

Article marketing was just one tactic, there are other tactics I go through as well like web 2.0, RSS directory submissions, social bookmarking, blog commenting, link exchanges etc.. Incidentally I am working on version 2 of the cash cow guide which will update these traffic techniques with some cool stuff. All current customers will get it for free..

It took me about a week here and there, but I read it from beginning to end. There is a lot of information in here but it's hidden. You just have to find it. Post 21 was a good one, I took notes on it. Get the chance to read it from the beginning and you'll learn a lot.

Hi Steve and thank you for all the grteat information you bring to light.

My question is..... everyone keeps mentioning using the Cash Cow Adsense formula to generate income from your blog/s.....

Therefore, I ask you, do you have to use this formula with blogs to be successful or can this formula also be used on regular niche websites?

Thanks Steve and Horraaa!

Strange, I don't know the 1st professional that will decide to take their sites dow. If you have crappy sites with the risk of being banned, well... go and change them to affiliate, sell your own products, EPN, CJ, Clickbank..

mmm strange.

Alvanpilot, I am using the strategy for my websites and I don't have a "blog" per se. If you read the description of Steve's cruise site, it's not really a blog either. You can use blogging software like Wordpress, but consider the posts to be articles and not a blog post. That is what I am doing and I am using his traffic ideas to help build traffic to the site.

Nothing strange about it, they were all keyword stuffed pages that were built on .info's. Maybe with hindsight I could have turned them into affiliate sites but to be honest I wasn't proud of them and they didn't sit well with my new way of thinking.

The cash cow guide to adsense wealth is my own personal strategy for making a good adsense income that I released as a guide (in my sig).

You do not have to use this formula at all as there are many different strategies out there to achieve a good adsense income. However, this is my strategy that I know works because I have tried and tested it many times.

I did exactly the same thing when Google warned me. Sometimes being 'professional' means cleaning up after you've made mistakes.

Yes, this strategy can be used on static HTML websites. At the end of the day every website is just a bunch of code that our browsers can interpret, it doesn't matter what site builder was used in the development. However, the reason I choose wordpress as my weapon of choice is that it is a fantastic platform that has many SEO benefits with it's use of plugins, RSS feeds etc. It gives you everything you need for perfect on page and off page SEO virtually out of the box. A static HTML site can do the same thing but needs a lot more effort from the webmaster.

Thanks Steve for your quick reply. I appreciate it a lot.

The reason I asked about blogs vs websites is because I developed my website about 2 years ago now, using SBI. And, SBI, in the course of building your webpages, has it's own in house applications that require one to build their webpage in such a way that is passes a "Webpage Optimiztion" application prior to uploading it.

I am averaging about 3,000 to 4,000 uniques per month and was wondering if your program would be able to be used successfully with my website.

Thanks Steve and keep up the good work!

Yes, it will show you the process from start to finish of building a well optimized wordpress blog and how to integrate Adsense successfully. Your current website is already built and it seems to me that you should be concentrating on driving traffic to it. I do cover traffic generation but it is aimed at people who want to built a wordpress blog from scratch and make it a success.

Hi Steve,

I noticed that your medium rectangle adsense in upper center of your best european cruise has a slightly better looking text than other adsense text. Did you do something to this?

The criteria for a good adsense niche is:

1. Has high CPC associated with it.

Time to open up google keyword tool.. I then paste this list of keywords into the keyword tool and click on "use synonyms". When the results are returned, I sort by "Estimated Avg. CPC" from high to low. I then look down the list looking for four things.

1. High CPC
2. High Searches per month
3. Consistent searches through the year
4. Could I create content for that niche?

I have decide to go for "European Cruises" for the following reasons..

1. It has a CPC of $6.51 associated with it.
2. It has approximately 6600 searches per month.
3. The search volume is reasonably consistent through the year.
4. The competition is 181,000 in google.
5. I can create content for this niche.

I'm still trying to learn about CPC, so I have a few questions.

When reviewing the keywords in Google keyword tool, which keywords do you choose based on CPC?

I'm wanting to create a site that will most likely start out as Adsense only, but I'm not sure how to pick my keywords based on CPC.
Is it worth using a keyword that has a CPC below $2, $1???? -
What is the lowest amount you would go for CPC?

What is the average CPC/per keyword for a site that is fairly profitable?

Thanks!

It all depends on how good the keyword is.. What I mean by that is, if you have a keyword phrase that has a really good number of searches and low competition but a CPC of less than a $1 then it may still be worth a punt. It would take a lot less effort to get to page 1 of Google and as such you could still potentially reap some good income from that keyword.

A lot of people call this going for "low hanging fruit". There is nothing wrong with this technique in itself but I would only use this as supplemental to the juicy fruit on th etop branches. It might take a lot more effort to get the big juicy fruit but the payback is more than worth it!

You are being extremely patient with me Pixel and I am sorry for keeping you and everyone waiting. I am working on the videos currently.. I wasn't happy with the first lot I did so I am redoing them from scratch again. Most of the text is done though, so it is getting there.. You will be first to know when it is about to roll!

Dear Steve,

It is simply because I have faith in you Steve.
I believe that you are the one who will guide me to the Adsense success.

I have read your ebook and learn lots of things and concept.
Now, I am working to put it into practice, changing the site layout, writing article, etc.

By having the boot camp, I believe that everything will be explained in depth as you'll give your hand to guide your member and let them see over your shoulder.

So, please, tell me if you have launched your boot camp.

Thank you Steve.

Alvan, the short answer is no because right now I'm in the traffic building stage. I'm having to write articles myself for now, but I'm also using some content from article directories and plan to find some writers to freelance as well and write a few articles for me this month. I found that on an old personal blog I have been writing since 2005 I had a lot of content that I could use in my current enterprise, so that's what I'm working on now. I plan to re-write these posts, including pictures when needed, and building traffic with article directories and Squidoo lenses. My goal this week is to get five articles re-written and use three of them as link building tools and post two on the site as content.

I have not bought the Cash Cow book, it's on my wishlist. I am using the info from this post and the 100 days blog at this point.

My goal is to make $1 day with Adsense. I'm not keeping it on the one site, though. If I made $1 day between all my sites I would be thrilled! I've been on Adsense since 2005 and I'm only half way to payout.

Default SEO on Wordpress category page

Hi Steve,

I've been following your thread for these last couple of weeks and I'm on my way of making an Adsense-plugged website.

I've several questions to ask regarding your cruise blog.

1) I saw that you use All-In-One SEO Pack plugin and all the category-pages are not being SEO-ed. They don't have any meta description and keywords. To give it much worse, the plugin even let the robot to not indexing the page (<meta name="robots" content="noindex, follow" />).

Isn't it much better (if possible) to optimized the category page too, or at least let it get indexed by the search engine?

2) You've set the URL permalink of each articles without adding the category-name prior to the permalink of single_post_name itself. Maybe it is better like this: eg. [domainname].c*m/[category-name]/[article-title] instead of [domainname].c*m/[article-title]

3) How to use Propeller social bookmarking 'properly'? Recently i've just submitted my mainpage (only 1) to them, and then tried to add another sub-page but suddenly I cannot login to Propeller anymore. Seems they have banned my account. Tried to write them emails but didn't get any replies. Then I found this h**p://webupon.c*m/social-bookmarking/dos-and-donts-in-propeller/. Any comment?

Anyway, very inspiring thread! Thanx! (joinned WF mainly coz of this thread!)

It depends what part of the world you are in.. Here in the UK, the blog's posts are doing okay, in the US, they are flying up and down like a yoyo. Yes, it has impacted earnings naturally, ranging from just a few bucks a day to over $40. It's the good old google dance, eventually it will settle, I am not worried.

Currently I am concentrating on a lot of other projects but I shall start adding content and promoting again soon. It will be less than an hour a day though when I do.

1. The main problem with indexing the category page is that you might then suffer with some sort of dup content penalty or the category being indexed instead of your actual post. The category page tends to have all the posts you make under that category unless you change this.

2. It is a personal choice but the important thing is that you have your target keyword in the URL. If you want to include the category as well then there is no harm but it might dilute the SEO of the actual URL if it is a bit to broad compare d to your target keyword.

3. Looks like sensible advice to me in that article. If propellor do not reinstate your account then put it down to experience and move on. Open up a new account and do things like they say in that article.

The good news though Pete is that if you keep doing what you are doing then you will get those top slots you want, you just have to match and then do better than your competitors which sometimes is not that difficult.
Steve,
Been following this thread from the start and wow, it IS interesting. Quick question. Why do you write articles for backlinks instead of using a service like Angela's monthly backlinks package?
