I know this question has probably been answered before, but I cannot seem to find an answer I know that links should be publicly viewable, but if I can get .edu and .gov that are not, are they any good to me at all? Or are they basically invisible to the spiders? |

| All that I know is that links that are behind login form are not visible to crawler since they don't have the ability or not programmed to. In SEO perspective links that do not exist means nothing.

If it's not publicly viewable, then no, the links will not get indexed and you will not get credit for them; furthermore, pages that aren't publicly viewable generally have no pagerank anyway, so an outbound link wouldn't be too helpful. The only possible benefit would be clickthrough traffic, or the small possibility of someone sharing the link later on. |
