Default Forum profiles enough? or posting needed?

I have outsourcers doing all types of backlinking right now and some of the main ones are high PR angela and pauls forum profile links. In the past, I seem to have more luck with the backlink sticking if I post something on the forum, rather than just making a profile and never posting.

So my question is, should I hire someone to go back to all the forums that I have profiles on and get them to post 2-5 posts on each forum? Or is this just a waste of time?

I think posting one or two posts in forums helps the readers to attract to your profile and for sure they will visit, which will surely help to increase the backlink.

Profile links weigh very less in gaining good rank in SERP and most of these don't get indexed as well. Not a good way to gain ranking in short time according to me.

Some time back I hired a VA to register with a forum list I received, and do a post to drop my links. They would do around 50 in a four hour day for me. I noticed in a short time that I was getting a trickle of traffic from these posts.

My opinion is that it is worth it to have them post a comment, as long as they read the thread so it is appropriate and not spam.

In my experience profile links aren't that great - posting useful comments with an attachment to your sig is much better.
