Pagerank 4, no inbound links

Hey guys,

Just wondering how this can happen? A website I was looking at has pagerank of 4 (shown on chrome pagerank extension), but looking in site explorer sees no inbound links and the link:<website> in google search only shows 4 links from pages on the same site.

Is this possible or this fake PR?

check through PR checker

Check the site's inbound links in site explorer for www and non www attached.
It makes a big difference at some cases.

Check if PR is valid.
Check using another backlink checker like Yahoo Explorer.
What is the age?

Maybe the owner has another high PR domain that is automatically forwarded to this domain giving it fake PR

Check the back links of the site using backlinkwatch(dot)com. It can happen as in a long span of time the site might have created authority in Google's eye. For PR, beside back links ,content, age of domain also counts.
Or anothr case be that the PR , you see might be fake.

You are forgetting internal links. Yes, they feed off of each other.
I have a PR4 page that has 4 google external counted links.

Internal linking can be golden.

Content, age, domain, etc. have nothing to do with PR.

PR4 is not normally faked. The fakers go for PR7 or above.

Nobody counterfeits a one dollar bill.
