Default How Do You Calculate Keyword Density?

Curious if there is a consensus on this or not. Here's an easy example. You have a 500 word article with the keyword Ipad. If you use Ipad 10 times, that's 2%.

But what if your keyword is Thin White Ipad? Since it's 3 words, if you use it 10 times it's really 30 words. So is the density still 2% or is it 6% now?

I don't really pay attention to keyword density when I write, but I do have clients that care about it. So I'd like to know if there's a consensus on this or not.

I am wondering the same thing,
is there a software that does this automatically.

It makes it hard if i have to calculate density for every article :|

By this Microsoft Word toolbar, clik on "Edit", then click on "Find." In the window that appears, type in your keyword or key phrase used. It will then tell you how many times the keyword or key phrase has been used in the article.

But in the above case of "thin white Ipad" is the keyword density 2% or 6%?

If you use "Thin white Ipad" keyword 10 times in 500 word article then density is 2% not 6%. Best way to check the density .. Count the words .. Now press ctrl +f and enter your keyword.. Now calculate the %.. It does not matter how long your keyword is!
