Default Landing Page Duplication Question for Adwords

Hello,

I just got back into Adwords after a lengthy hiatus and I'm a bit stumped on how to handle multiple landing pages in Adwords and hope I can get some advice:

Here's what I'm doing:

I want to run multiple landing pages that are SLIGHTY different (headline...text etc...), so as to match their respective keywords/adgroups.

My original landing page is indexed and has original content.

So I've been reading that I need to use Canonical Link Element so the variations point to the original.

QUESTIONS:

1. So is using Canonical Link Element correct?

2. If No 1 above is the way to go will my quality score suffer with any of the pages using this process?

3. Will the Adwords bot 'see' the new URL's even though they are using the link element?

4. I use Wordpress...is there any tutorials on how to achieve this? (ive never done it).

5. If the above isn't the way to go, are there other avenues here?

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Ken
