Hi Warriors Help, choosing a domain name. If I choose a plural keyword example rabbits instead of rabbit singular for a domain name ie rabbits.com Would the plural attract traffic from both plural & singular? If this is true choosing a plural domain name from this perspective would normally be more benefical. So if I choose a domain name like "white rabbits" would I get traffic from searches from "rabbits" "rabbit" as well as "white rabbits". Thank's Warriors |

There has been some debate on this in the past and some people will say that you can more get traffic by using the plural version. I have not performed any testing to know if this is accurate or not but it shouldn't matter too much. I would do one of the following: 1-If "White Rabbit" gets more traffic than "White Rabbits", I would go for the singular. 2-If the traffic numbers are the same, then I would select the plural or the one that makes the most sense for your topic. 3- If I have the budget and I'm going to create a big website, then I would select both singular and plural and redirect one to the other. Having the Keyword domain name is just one of many ranking factors. Hope this helps. |

Many thanks JoePNY for your reply. Suppose that I go the redirect route & link the one to the other. How would I get the redirected domain to be listed & climb in the SERPS to attract traffic? Many thanks Taffiliae |

Keywords base domain name is good but please remember only keywords base domain can’t help you, you need to build back link and update content is the game of traffic

Eventually, yes, but look into the search figures for each specific phrase before choosing a domain name.

IF I was willing to walk Googles tight rope & go the redirect route. How do i get traffic to the redirect link? How risky is the strategy & why? Thanks warriors |

Ahh Taffiliae, We've opened the door to another topic which is highly debated. Too Redirect or not! It can seem risky because the search engines may see this as duplicate content. Big companies like Amazon use redirects for mispelled domain names. For example, If you type in "Amzon.com, you will be redirected to Amazon.com I use 301 redirects on certain sites without a problem. Unfortunately, this is something that can go either way. I don't want to change the topic from domain names to redirects so I will amend my original answer to only include option #1 or #2. |
