Obvious the PR matters. For example, a PR 10 backlink trumps a edu/gov backlink. But what about PR1, PR2, and PR3? ![]() I think once you get to PR3 it definitely beats out edu/gov but I'm no expert. What do you guys think? |

I'm a little confused by your question. Overall they are both good, but the EDU/GOVs add trust (outside of PR) to a domain. It greatly depends on where your links are though. For example, if you get an EDU/GOV link via a profile or blog comment (thats been spammed to death) those don't pass much, if any credibility at all. If its a contextual EDU or GOV then you've got a lot of link juice and trust being passed along to your money website.

After the Panda update, .gov and .edu backlinks got their value decreased. There are also other factors such as the page's outbound links, so a spammed .edu with PR3 may be worse than an unspammed PR3 .com link.
