Congrats. I also got an update on my companies portfolio website. I started the site in May 2010 so it is just more than a year old and in January when the last update came I jumped from 0 to 4 and today I jumped to 5. Yeeeaaahaaa.
Now I have to rethink my remodelling plan ;-)
Hopefully a lot of you guys were lucky as well.

Well, In order to get good pagerank , You need to focus on quality of backlinks instead of quantity. Here is the simple equation

100 pagerank 0 backlinks = 2 pagerank 5 backlinks

I've a page with only 36 backlinks, checked with traffictravis and after the update now it went from PR0 to PR4. The domain just reach 1 yr old.

All 5 of my websites jumped from PR 0 to PR 1-3, it's funny because according to Google Webmasters the one the jumped to PR 1 has way more backilinks than the one that jumped to PR 3. I wonder if the process still continues or if it´s definite now.

One of my sites, 2 inner pages PR4 outrank the main domain PR3.

Even my page 2, 3 and 4 went from PR0 to PR2.

But my inner pages almost all are no where to be found these past 4-8 weeks.

I'm building backlinks regularly for past 2 months and rankings have not come back. Hopefully they will come back strong.

I literally just bought 4 PR2 domains yesterday. Two of them dropped. One to a PR 1 and one to a PR 0. One more day, and I never would have bought them.

Site went from PR0 to PR2, and at the sime time dropped from position #2 to #500+... Makes no sense WHATSOEVER and another indicator the recent updates are ridiculous and SERP quality is worse than before.

Other people reporting 1 article sites going from PR0-1 straight to PR5-6. Lol what a joke.

PR has little to do with SERP rankings. A good PR does not guarantee SERP rankings, and a bad PR does not prohibit a site from good SERP rankings.

Toolbar PR is only a very rough measure of a site's strength, but I often check to see what it is on sites I have an interest in. However, as long as Google seems to be going between PR updates nowadays, I'm relying more and more on MozRank instead of PageRank. Who knows, it could be another year before Google updates toolbar PR again.

Mozrank is SEOMoz's free toolbar alternative to PageRank that attempts to mimic the Google PR algorithm. It goes out a couple of decimal places instead of just rounding off like toolbar PR. It's not a prefect mimic, which they freely admit, but a cool tool nonetheless. This is my first post, so I can't post links, but just google "Mozrank" and it should be the first or second option. They do make you register for a free account. If the you want to know how up-to-date the toolbar PR of a site/domain you might be going after, it's probably worth it to take a minute to compare it against its Mozrank is at least somewhat similar.

Actually, I do a lot of other research before buying something. Mostly, analyzing the backlinks. Still it is just an educated guess.

I had a site that jumped up 80 spots to get to #2 when it was reduced from a PR6 to PR3

Yep - PageRank was switched overnight. I've got several hundred domains and there was a lot of fluctuation. Now its time to analyze which made it and which didn't. From my initial search my high PR sites didn't shift at all but my lower PR sites did.

Yes we also had several changes today our brand new sites approx 10 weeks old all were promoted to PR1 today from PR 0 & PR N/A now all we have to do is improve on the serps!!!

Then it's useless. What's the point of giving a site a form of praise by increasing the PR, just to drop it from the SERPs... It's like saying: well done, you made a good site that we like, let me give you a worse ranking in reward.

Congratulations to all with bigger PR.

It is lottery. Again and again Google showed that the PR ranking has nothing to do with the quality of the websites (apart from few exceptions) . Rubbish even got a PR4, domain with considerable traffic fell to 1-3 from 4-5.

The update is in progress. We'll see how to come out at the end. It may be that a significant portion of these results will be corrected.

You didn't check if the PR is there for a reason or by accident? Just check the backlinks with opensiteexplorer. PR2 should have domain authority of 25/100 take or give a few points.
I think the reason google doesn't update more than 2 times a year is to punish people that buy PR. Since it's useless to fight the PR sellers. So people keep buying PR links from sites where PR has actually dropped long ago.

Well, Pagerank doesn't affect SERP.
