Default google trends

Hello,
Warriors, would you be so kind to explain me what is google trends. I use semrush for keywords research, and cannot understand what means information in column -trends. How can i use this information in keyword research.

Google Trends will let you see how the popularity of a particular term changes over time, it reflects seasonal fluctuations. Search for "St.Valentine Day" in Google Trends and you'll see what I mean.

When I do my keyword research, I also look for an increasing or stable long-term search trend and I avoid keywords with a decreasing trend or only seasonal traffic. You also get these trends when you use the Google Keyword External tool.
