Today, I got 21 total unique visitors to my website. Google Analytics shows, "All traffic sources sent a total of 21 visits."
I don't understand what the percentages for direct traffic and search engines means. Can someone explain? |

hi here the search engine percentage means those visitors who have visited your website by using some keywords.. and the direct traffic percentage is determined by the number of vistors who visited your website by directly using your website url.

^ true Jacob but you forget about the referring sites. referring site is when someone is using facebook and he click your link and enter your website.. that is consider as referring site.. facebook is the referring site for your website.

| Hi, so direct traffic means the number of visitors who visited my website by typing in my website URL?

I am certainly no expert on this but I believe the direct traffic can be anyone typing your website URL into their browser, or clicking on a bookmark they have made with your website/page or clicking on a link in a newsletter/ezine that you may publish?

| I think there's a difference here between direct traffic and referring sites. But I think we're all getting closer to the picture. Thanks.
