Does it make sense for a local business to write articles on EZine to promote themselves if their market is only local? I've heard that EZine will bring you direct traffic but not necessarily improve your site from an SEO perspective. |

Well...if the article is written from a local perspective, I could see that as useful. It's generally much easier to rank when you throw in geo-targeting, but you also have to consider that the search volume will be considerably less as well. I'll give you an example, though. Let's say I run a small auto glass repair company in Sacramento. It might make sense for me to write articles about how to protect auto glass, preventative steps you can take, comparing brands of auto glass, etc. and writing them from a local slant. Do some keyword research and target those keywords that receive a decent amount of search volume locally and look fairly easy to rank for. Honestly, though, I don't see why you would put them on ezinearticles and not on your own site, though. Can you include phone numbers on ezinearticles? I doubt it, but if you could I would think that would be quite valuable... |

Yeah, I agree with what you're saying. It's not that we have a local slant to the content we would submit, but the fact remains that our service is only available to select geographical locations and from a marketing standpoint, we should only target those geographical locations. Putting the articles on your own site...like a blog is an excellent idea. The problem is that we have a separate blog website and I still haven't been able to figure out how to integrate Blogger onto a standard HTML page. Thanks for your input. |

Well, there are several issues here... First, it's actually quite difficult to get locally targeted articles into Ezinearticles. Especially with the local keyword in the title. I've tried several times, and I've given up. BUT... There are two reasons I can think of right off the top of my head why you may want to publish articles at EZA (after you put them on your own site): 1) backlinks ;-) 2) Instant expert effect It's not so much that you will get lots of visitors but that you can send your visitors to EZA to check out your articles! Just my 2 cents... Elisabeth |
