I posted this in the main forum, but just in case anyone missed it. Attached are a list of 10 high .edu profile links. They're all DoFollow and has high PR from the root domain. |

Thanks for sharing. Some of these forums are full of SPAM messages, i.e. the public forums on USF. Will any backlink from these pages carry weight with Google since there seems to be nothing but these SPAM messages? |

I hope these Edu links allow all of them to place their anchor text links.

Yep, you can place them in your signature. But remember to wait at least 1-2 weeks after account creation before creating your signatures. | ||

Edu links are always appreciated, as the search engines still consider them authority sites

Great share. There's an article with Matt Cutts (can't find it now) where they talk about reducing the authority of .edu and .gov links in the last few months. They were sick of getting spammed so much for the value of their links. However, if the domains are of high PR, they still are of great value. Just for the rest of you, don't get in a tailspin chasing .edu links only though because they aren't the same value that they used to be.

Yeah, forum profiles, and forum commenting in general even on an .edu site is not all that valuable anymore. you'd probably be better off writing a good long original article.

Can any one tell me that which one should be indexed in the forum. Example: You Post your website in the Thread you start? OR Your Profile page? Which will be best to index? |

I have to say that I believe these links are either completely useless, or potentially damaging for your site. Since visiting these forums, Firefox is running slow, and it says connecting to myprofile.ignorelist.com which means I'm on a list of spammers that they want to punish for doing this kind of thing. If that's how Firefox views it, you can imagine what Google would think. There's no other reason why I would be on that spam list by the way, these links screwed up Firefox for me, and I'm lucky they didn't harm my rankings in Google.

| You'll get results alright - but only once they're indexed. You need to ping them and meta index them. TrafficMystic on the forum here has some great software for doing this, SEO Robot. When I run my forum links through his SEO Link Robot I see results in 7-10 days. All my sites are 60/70% forum links and wouldn't be getting page 1 ranking without them. Some people diss forum links but I love them Of course they count, but like any other kind of link, ONLY once they are indexed. Look up TrafficMystic and get his indexer, and get results ![]() Best of |

Thanks for posting the list. Backlinks from .edu site are really a great help in link building process and ranking as all knows they are authority links and Google gives a great value to them.

Anyone can say that .edu backlinks are not as valuable as they used to be, but the fact of the matter remains, if you look at all the sites that are PR 10 and PR 9 most all of the are .gov and .edu sites, the grand majority, therefore, and by default this is not the case, the links have no value.

| If SEO were that simple, all anyone would need to do to eliminate their competition would be to sign up and stick some backlinks to forums that have some less than savory participants. Sorry to hear that you experienced some issues after using these. Personally, I have not. Thanks for the share! |
