Okay, I have been seeing quite a few depressed webmasters around here complaining about the Panda updates and all of that, how they websites have suffered ever so greatly. So my question is for the seasoned SEO experts and webmasters. What would be your advice for the new and upcoming webmaster who wants to get natural organic traffic from search engines.

Just don't write crap content, simple. There are a lot of autobloggers on here that will still swear by it and claim it's still effective today as it was a couple of years ago, yeah right! Panda update was to get rid of rubbish useless sites like autoblogs, and good riddance. If you want your site to do well post-panda, then focus on writing unique, quality content, and make your articles slightly longer too (500+ words). Play by the rules, do plenty of consistent backlinking, and you'll be fine ![]() Jonathan |

Learn the basics of SEO and focus on adding quality content to your site. Then get some good backlinks coming in with your keywords in your anchor text. It sounds ridiculously easy when you put it like that, but essentially that's all there is to it. |

Write from the heart. Learn as you go. Don't sign up to lists...just RSS feeds for blogs that link out.

I just put this in another thread asking a siimilar question 1. Make sure you have good solid quality content - It needs to read well and naturally 2. Make it as visual as you can - If you have videos, pictures get them up there 3. Add content and keep it fresh. Doesent need to be daily - Even once a week will help 4. Don't go mad with keyword density, it just does not look natural. When creating an article use google wonder wheel to give you ideas on related keywords to sprinkle through the article. 5. Have a good internal link structure - Ensure your articles link naturally amonst each other and are not just linked for the sake of SEO. Use related article plugin. 6. Build links using a variety of methods, article sydication, contextual links, blog networks, bookmarking, profiles ect. Get a diverse range of links is key. Don't worry to much about pyramids, link wheels ect - Straight linking to your main and internal pages mixing anchor text works just fine. 7. If you can afford it buy PR home page links. These are valuable and can make a big difference in ranking Overall, when you look at your site, imagine you are a user, do you want to stay on the site and explore, if so this is good. Does it have quality information which is visually intersting, this will keep people on your site and give you the google love you deserve. I recently had one of my sites which post Panda dropped from the no.1 position down to middle of the second page. I tweaked my site, made the above changes and now I am steadily moving back up and am this week back to no.3. Don't be disheartened by your drop in rankings, think of it as a challenge and dont give up, patience is key so just keep going. |

here's the thing, content is very important, but you can still get very far with blackhat spamming. If you're in an aggressive affiliate niche (like ecigs or something) you'll have no choice but to go blackhat. I recommend balancing your link profile with low quality/low cost links and High PR sitewide links. Keeps your site away from the sandbox most of the time. |

His focus on high-quality content is the *single* biggest thing you can remember. Without that, the rest won't get you that far. Secondly, on-page SEO, which others have mentioned here. Get the basics down and use consistently on your content pages. @magnusmora mentioned a few good things: Numbers 1-5 would be my personal recommendation to start. #6 gets important as you get some momentum going, but don't go wide first. Learn the basics and then start applying backlinking strategies. However, I really do disagree about buying those PR home page links. Basically, they work until Google notices them. Google can figure out who is paying for links, and then they quite often discount them. If you buy a bunch, it's hard to know if they disappeared after you waste a ton of time watching them and tuning out. Spend your money getting great content, invest your money in learning solid SEO practices, and then start applying a new practice, learning and growing, and then learning and applying the next one. Every SEO you talk to has opinions about some things like paid links, linkwheels, automated backlink tools, and so on. Nobody is perfect and in any discussion with those kinds of two sides, somebody might not be right. So, read SEO advice with a grain of salt (even mine), learn who to trust, use what you learn from them, and build your skills. There's a lot of bad advice as well as good advice, and sometimes it's hard to tell the difference. My internal compass basically tells me that if it feels like I'm trying to trick Google into liking my site when it wouldn't give me the time of the day if I'm honest about it, I should probably rethink my strategy. But you need to listen to YOUR internal compass and your common sense. Most of SEO is common sense. Your take might be different than mine. | |

I agree with with a lot of these posts if you have good quality content, consistant link building, and build your site out you will be ok. I saw sites disappear around me and my rankings improved with Panda for one simple reason. Take your time build a business do not try spammy stuff.
