Hello I realise I may asking for the moon here, but I'll give it a go! I`m trying to get into niche sites, I think I`ve a good understanding of what metrics to look for in keywords etc, however the actual start of the process, the see words, is troubling me a bit. Can anyone offer any help with this? Should I be using 1,2 or 3 words to start my searches with?! Phrases?! I am finding niches, but its taking me far, far longer to find far, far fewer that I anticipated. Perhaps I`m doing something wrong! Thanks. |

Start with writing down a long list of keywords that people might have used to find your website. My initial lists are usually about 20 key phrases long. Then check every keyword on your initial list with all keyword research tools you can find: Google AdWords Keyword Tool, Wordtracker, Semrush, Google Suggest - the more methods you use, the better. Do not reject any keyword suggestion before you actually check out the number of searches and competition. Some most weird suggestions might turn out lucrative. |

Thanks Vikby One thing though, I have not got a website, I will build a website for a specific niche once I find the niche. Its the keyword search at the start of the process that is giving me trouble! |

You will have to start with the more generic keywords, and then getting deeper into longer-tail-keywords..... there is a tool called "keyword hunter", google it, and that can show you searches, competition, for different related keyword to you search. You have to turn it around, and view things in the prospects point of view, what they might search for, and not what you think they search for. I use a tool called SEcockpit (paid)to do those things. Send me 1-2 of your keywords, and I will do a research on those for you , and bring you back the best and most competitive if you like, just PM me :-) |

I find niches by promoting products I actually use. Make a list of things you use on a regular basis. All my sites are amazon affiliated so almost anything you can think of is probably available on amazon. Do you have a pet for example? Check out pet pens or pet kennel on amazon. Sort by best selling and you'll see right away what people are buying. The term pet kennel might be a tough one to rank for but maybe not plastic pet kennel. If your not interested in pets then check out best selling lists in other amazon product categories. All my keyword research is centered around 2 and 3 word combinations.

Find a product or service that you want to promote. Visit the website or webpage of that product or service and look for any keywords that you can use on that page or site. If you want to promote adsense, find a list of high paying keywords (simple google search will give you a list). Pick a few keywords that you like off of the list. Search for them on google and look at the top ranking sites. Find keywords off of the top ranking sites that you might want to use. Once you have a small list of keywords that you are interested in, try to think of any lsi keywords someone might use when doing a search. Then take your each individual keyword and plug it into whatever software you use or the google keyword tool. |

A great tip if you're beginning any keyword research campaign is to first go check out Keyword Sniper Pro 2.0 from Jack Duncan. It is amazing and will pay for itself easily.

| Indeed. I emailed him a question yesterday and he responded within about 30 minutes or so. But yes, I continue to be fascinated by the power of this software as I too have tried many keyword tools.

you can find niches at wordstream.com, nichedog.com, amazon.com, pulse.ebay.com, magazines.com. once you find the niche, then start the keyword research. when we type in generic terms in the google adwords tool, it does not bring out all the best keywords, so i never use it to find niches

Good answers here - start with niche before you move onto the keywords...that's the foundation for a profitable site. No sense in analyzing keywords if the niche isn't profitable for you. Some good general niches are hobby based or solution based (things people are passionate about) I'm running a very short survey on my site re: niches. If you're interested, take the survey and my team will do the research for you (keyword research and niche research). You will get that information for free...no strings attached - you can watch the video when you go to the "Niche Research" page of the site. This may help you out a bit. Hope that helps Dawn Damico YourResearchDiva.com |

Generally I would put a main keyword into a tool like Market Samurai, and then let it generate a whole list of related keyword. Then I just access each one to see which one best meets my needs. The more searches the better, and as long as the competition for it isn't crazy, I will go for it.

Just like warriors said above, build a keyword list then check them one by one, find out those low-competitive but highly-searched ones. Thing will become easier after you start doing it. -Stone |
